WWE Backlash 2025 – Final Spoilers, Backstage News, and Full Match Lineup – WWE Backlash: St. Louis takes place tonight at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, and some late backstage news and internal spoilers have emerged ahead of the highly anticipated event.
According to internal discussions, NJPW and AEW standout Jeff Cobb has been penciled in for tonight’s show as of Friday. While nothing has been officially confirmed, WWE creative reportedly explored the idea of aligning Cobb with members of The Bloodline storyline in some capacity. Whether he appears on camera tonight or simply remains backstage is still unclear.
Meanwhile, in terms of championship direction, John Cena is expected to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship past Backlash. Cena’s title reign is reportedly planned to continue into the summer months. However, how he gets past Randy Orton—especially in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis—remains to be seen. It’s unknown whether Cena will win clean, or retain through disqualification, count-out, or other means.
Cathy Kelley confirmed she will not be part of tonight’s broadcast. As previously reported, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will call the event in a two-man booth. This adjustment is due to Pat McAfee competing on the card against GUNTHER in a singles match.
From a statistical standpoint, John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest are the only WWE Superstars scheduled to have competed at every premium live event in 2025 so far. LA Knight, however, leads WWE in televised wins this year, having secured 12 victories in 21 matches aired on television or PLE platforms.
