Possible Spoiler for WWE Backlash

Possible Spoiler for WWE Backlash – WWE Backlash is set to take place this Saturday, May 10th, in St. Louis, and according to new reports, fans may be in for a major surprise during the Premium Live Event.

According to a new report from PWInsider, at least one creative pitch has been made for Cody Rhodes to make a surprise appearance this Saturday. The report notes that a Backlash return would “make the most sense” given the fallout from WrestleMania 41, but as of this week, nothing has been confirmed.

“We haven’t heard 100% that’s the direction,” PWInsider stated, leaving the possibility open but speculative.

Rhodes has not appeared on WWE television since the main event of WrestleMania 41 Night 2, where he lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to John Cena. The title bout ended in controversy after musician Travis Scott interfered, pulling the referee out of the ring during a key moment. Rhodes responded with a Cross Rhodes on Scott, but the distraction proved costly, as Cena ultimately capitalized to win his 17th world title — setting a new all-time record in what is expected to be his final year in WWE.

With Backlash marking WWE’s first Premium Live Event since WrestleMania 41, the timing would be ideal for Rhodes to reemerge and address the loss. A surprise return could set the stage for a potential confrontation with the new champion and immediately reignite the storyline that left fans divided in early April.

At WWE Backlash, Cena is scheduled to defend his newly-won title against Randy Orton, which could set the stage for an interesting clash between these two veteran Superstars. Should Rhodes make a surprise appearance, it could add even more drama to an already high-stakes match.

However, other reports and advertising materials have pointed to a possible Rhodes return on the May 16 episode of SmackDown instead, leaving both options on the table.
