John Cena Vs Randy Orton for Undisputed WWE Championship Set for Backlash – A massive title match between John Cena and Randy Orton has been made official for WWE Backlash on May 10 in St. Louis, Missouri, after the two veterans delivered a fiery, deeply personal promo on the April 25 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Cena opened the show with a grand entrance and demanded a proper introduction from the ring announcer. Before he could speak, Randy Orton interrupted, reminiscing about their 25-year relationship. “It will soon be twenty-five years since we first shook hands… You used to be about hustle, loyalty, and respect. That wasn’t an act—it was who you were,” Orton said. He praised Cena’s impact on children, referencing his Make-A-Wish record: “You granted more wishes than anybody in history. You cannot tell me those kids didn’t leave with a piece of your heart.”

Orton then took a personal turn: “You need to have some damn kids. It’ll make you a better human being.”

Cena’s response was scathing. “How dare you parent-shame me… The real reason I don’t have kids? I’ve spent the last 25 years raising yours,” Cena shot back, accusing Orton of being an absent father. “I’ve been a better parent to your children than you could ever be.”

Things escalated as Cena turned on the fans, calling them “hypocrites” and dismissing their long-standing chants. “You’re all hypocrites. You want to know why I don’t care what you think? Because I’ve been told I suck for 25 years.”

Orton fired back, saying Cena owed his entire career to WWE and the fans: “Without the WWE Universe, there is no WWE. Without WWE, there is no Hollywood for you. You’re just a guest.”

When Orton challenged Cena to defend the title on the spot, Cena declined—but proposed the match take place at Backlash in Orton’s hometown: “There should be a match between us—but not here. It should happen in St. Louis. I want you at your best. After you lose, you’ll have no excuses.”

Cena added one final shot: “I’ve already won 17. You’ve won 14. After Backlash, you’ll be frozen at 14 forever.” He tried to attack Orton with the title belt, but Orton countered with an RKO and held the championship high as Cena lay on the mat.
