John Cena Vs Randy Orton Reportedly Set for WWE Backlash 2025 – WWE is bringing back one of its most storied rivalries as John Cena and Randy Orton are reportedly set to clash in the main event of Backlash 2025. According to WrestleVotes, the Undisputed WWE Championship match will be billed as “one last time,” signaling the final chapter in their legendary feud.
On the April 21st episode of RAW, Cena wrapped up a promo, stating, “The last real champ is here.” Orton then shocked the crowd by sliding into the ring and delivering a sudden RKO. The surprise attack drew a massive ovation from the audience. Orton then hoisted the Undisputed WWE Championship above Cena’s motionless body, clearly staking his claim to the title.
Backlash 2025 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, at the Enterprise Center in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. The venue and storyline both add another layer of intrigue, as Orton will be looking to recapture championship gold in front of a hometown crowd.
If confirmed, this match will mark the first televised singles contest between Cena and Orton in over eight years. Their last one-on-one bout took place at a live event on February 11, 2017, in New Mexico. While they’ve shared the ring in various multi-man matches since then, this will be their first major singles showdown since that encounter.
Orton is coming off a victory at WrestleMania 41 against TNA’s Joe Hendry, while Cena recently returned to WWE and captured the Undisputed WWE Championship in a major surprise. With both men looking to close out their iconic rivalry on top, all eyes are now on Backlash for what promises to be a historic showdown.
