The film, which was written and directed by Lowell Dean, follows a small-time wrestling company that accepts a lucrative gig in a remote town, only to discover that the community is controlled by a mysterious cult leader with sinister intentions for their match. As the wrestlers find themselves in a real fight for survival, tensions escalate and secrets are unveiled. The cast also features Steven Ogg from ‘The Walking Dead’ and Ayisha Issa from ‘Transplant.’
Reflecting on the film’s creation, Lowell Dean expressed his initial doubts about its potential, but was thrilled to see it come to life with the dedication of the cast and crew. He shared his excitement about sharing the film with audiences worldwide.
‘Dark Match’ will be presented for sales by the UK-based outfit ‘Blue Finch’ at the upcoming “The Marché du Film” Cannes Film Market.
