Rey Mysterio Returns on 3/1 SmackDown – On the March 1 episode of WWE SmackDown, Carlito and Santos Escobar faced off in a Street Fight. Their groups, the LWO and Legado del Fantasma, also got involved. Escobar seemed to have the upper hand until Rey Mysterio’s music played. Mysterio, who had been using crutches due to a previous injury, surprised everyone by revealing he had recovered. He used his crutch to take down members of Escobar’s group.
Mysterio then distracted Escobar, allowing Carlito to spit apple chunks in his face. Carlito followed up with his signature move, the Backstabber, and Mysterio delivered his iconic 619. Carlito finished off Escobar by slamming him through a table for the win.
After the match, the LWO celebrated together.
Mysterio had been out of action since Escobar attacked him on November 10, 2023. He underwent knee surgery and was expected to be sidelined for several months.
