Update on Shotzi Following Injury – During Tuesday’s WWE NXT TV tapings for next week’s episode (spoilers here), the stage was set for an intense showdown between Shotzi and Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Championship on the February 20th broadcast. However, the highly anticipated match took an unexpected turn when Shotzi suffered a knee injury during the bout.
The injury occurred as Shotzi attempted a DDT maneuver on the apron, leading to a sudden halt in the match as Shotzi was unable to continue. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Shotzi was visibly in significant pain and unable to put weight on her injured knee.
Reports from Fightful’s Corey Brennan indicated that Shotzi’s condition was a cause for concern backstage, with immediate attention given to assessing the extent of her injury. It was clarified that the injury was legitimate and not part of the storyline, characterized as a “freak accident” with no blame attributed to either Shotzi or Lyra Valkyria.
WWE had already announced Shotzi for an Elimination Chamber Qualifying match against Tiffany Stratton on this week’s WWE SmackDown. However, that bout is now in jeopardy.
As Shotzi undergoes evaluation and treatment for her injury, the NXT roster and fans alike are hopeful for her swift recovery and return to action.
