NJPW to Introduce New Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 18 – A new IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship will be introduced at the Wrestle Kingdom 18 event, determined through a three-way match between Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, and David Finlay. The winner will emerge as the inaugural titleholder, replacing the now-defunct IWGP United States/United Kingdom Heavyweight Championship.
Additionally, a double Tag Team Title match is set to take place featuring Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI against Hikuleo & El Phantasmo, contending for both the IWGP Tag Team and NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Championships.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, January 4 at the Tokyo Dome, will stream live on NJPW World starting at 2:30 a.m. Eastern time. The current lineup includes:
- IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Match: SANADA (champion) vs. Tetsuya Naito
- Singles Match: Kazuchika Okada vs. Bryan Danielson
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: Hiromu Takahashi (champion) vs. El Desperado
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship Match: Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney (champion) vs. TJP & Francesco Akira
- NJPW World Television Championship Match: Zack Sabre Jr. (champion) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
- NEVER Openweight Championship Match: Shingo Takagi (champion) vs. Tama Tonga
