Backstage News On CM Punk Appearing At NXT Deadline – As noted, CM Punk showed up to NXT Deadline on Saturday night, as previously teased on social media, after claiming that he “missed his flight” and just so happened to be in town for the show, purely kayfabe.
In his SmackDown promo on Friday, he mentioned that he would give NXT Head of Creative Shawn Michaels a call this weekend about potentially signing with NXT as he weighs out his options about which brand he’ll choose, something he will reveal on Monday’s Raw.
The appearance saw him interrupt Michaels, where Punk apologized for doing so and asked if he was about to say “suck it.” Michaels laughed, and Punk asked if he could say that on television. Michaels said he didn’t know. Punk teased again, potentially signing with NXT before taking a selfie with the WWE Hall of Famer.
Haus of Wrestling reports that Michaels is allowed to say “Suck it” on WWE TV, according to a source. However, it didn’t fit the moment as screaming “suck it” is usually a way to end a DX segment, a problem considering they were just starting the segment.
Regarding how Punk was backstage, he was at the venue most of the day, where he was described as being “great around everyone,” and his interactions with Triple H there were also “legit” very good.
Sources close to Punk continue to “talk about how happy he is and that he is just looking to keep riding the wave he is on.” Punk’s NXT appearance did catch many off guard backstage despite the tease.
