Adam Cole Reveals Himself as The Devil – At AEW Worlds End, a shocking revelation occurred when Adam Cole was unmasked as The Devil, initiating a brutal assault on MJF following his loss of the AEW World Title at the hands of Samoa Joe.
Cole, accompanied by a team comprising The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett), Roderick Strong, and Wardlow, returned before MJF’s match against Samoa Joe, ostensibly to support him. However, after MJF’s defeat, masked assailants attacked MJF and Cole. In a surprising turn, Cole seemingly orchestrated the attack, urging the assailants to strike him as the lights momentarily dimmed.
When the lights returned, Cole was seated, brandishing the Devil mask while the masked attackers revealed themselves and intensified the assault on MJF.
This revelation has a tangled history involving Cole’s alliance with MJF, much to the chagrin of Roderick Strong. Cole had been absent from AEW television since sustaining an ankle injury during AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. During his absence, Strong received support from Taven, Bennett, and had continually accused MJF of being the elusive Devil. Wardlow, returning to television in October, had also targeted MJF.
The Devil initially surfaced on the September 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, participating in attacks alongside four others. MJF refuted claims of being the Devil, asserting that his mask was stolen. The Devil and his cohorts carried out assaults on several wrestlers, including The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, and Hangman Page. Allegedly, the Devil had targeted MJF previously but was never visibly identified.
In a surprising turn on a recent AEW Dynamite episode, two of the Devil’s masked allies won the ROH Tag Team Championships, ultimately pinning MJF in a match that turned out to be a handicap bout orchestrated after Joe feigned an injury. It was later disclosed that Joe had been collaborating with the Devil all along.
