Mick Foley Unveils Qualifying Matches for NXT’s Iron Survivor Challenge – WWE has announced two new matches for this Tuesday’s episode of NXT, which will start the build to the Deadline PLE next month.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took to Instagram to note that NXT General Manager Shawn Michaels gave him the privilege of announcing the two contests, which will serve as Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches. Those matches are Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley and Dijak vs. Tyler Bate.
“Hello NXT, it’s the hardcore legend here, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley and I’m so excited because HBK Shawn Michaels has granted me the honor of selecting the qualifying matches this week for the Iron Survivor Challenge,” Foley says in the video.
“Let’s start with the women. Now, I’ve been watching NXT’s women’s division for a long time and It’s extremely strong. Two of the top women I want to specifically talk about, Fallon Henley and Tiffany Stratton. Now, their match last week never took place due to Tiffany’s attack so I say we absolutely see that match this week, and we up the stakes just a wee bit with the winner punching their ticket to Deadline.”
Last year, the Iron Survivor Challenge debuted, featuring five men and five women working a 25-minute match. Participants joined every five minutes, and the participant who scored the highest number of falls was crowned the winner.
NXT Heritage Cup holder Noam Dar vs. Akira Tozawa, Lyra Valkyria to make a return, and Bron Breakker vs. Von Wagner were previously announced for the show. Foley wrote the following in the caption of his post:
