WWE’s Plans for Randy Orton’s Return by Survivor Series – According to Fightful Select, WWE and Randy Orton are aiming for his return to occur before Survivor Series on November 25. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported, “WWE has been planning to have Randy Orton back by Survivor Series.”
Randy Orton has been absent from in-ring action since RK-Bro dropped the Raw Tag Team titles to The Usos on the May 20, 2022, episode of WWE Raw. Shortly after that match, it was widely speculated that he would require back surgery, potentially keeping him out of action for the remainder of the year. In September 2022, Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was considerable concern regarding the severity of Orton’s back injury.
It is believed that Orton underwent fusion surgery on his lower back in November the previous year. Although he was seen in Los Angeles over WrestleMania weekend earlier this year, sources indicated at the time that he still had some ways to go before making his return to the ring.
In May, Bob Orton Sr. shared in an interview with Bill Apter his belief that doctors had advised his son to stop wrestling. Bob Orton said, “He’s training, so we’ll see what happens. I don’t know if he feels like going back. If he feels like he’s ready to go back, I think he might. Then again, he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he needs to, and I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy is going to do what Randy is going to do, he always does.”
Despite the concerns and uncertainty surrounding his back injury, there appears to be an optimistic outlook for Randy Orton’s return to WWE, potentially aligning with Survivor Series later this year.
