However, those questions were answered with a surprise return, this time at Lucha VaVOOM’s event at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Front and center in the audience, Rousey joined forces with her long-time friend Marina Shafir for a tag team match against Taya Valkyrie and Brian Kendrick. The bout, lasting just five minutes, saw Rousey secure the victory for her team by forcing Kendrick to submit to an ankle lock.
Rousey took to Instagram to share the full match, along with a message challenging anyone who doubted her and Shafir’s ability to perform in the ring. Notably, Kendrick played a role in training Rousey, and she had previously requested his return to WWE as a co-producer for her matches.
She wrote in the caption, “@luchavavoom was honestly the best Lucha/burlesque hybrid show I’ve ever had the pleasure of jumping into unannounced. Anyone who doubted me and @marinashafir could make magic in a ring is an idiot – thank you @thetayavalkyrie and @mr.briankendrick for being down to get down with us.”
