Ricky Starks and Big Bill wasted no time, capitalizing on the champions’ vulnerabilities. The match primarily saw Big Bill dishing out punishment to Dax Harwood, while Cash Wheeler was taken out early and sent crashing through a table during the bout. Despite Harwood’s valiant efforts to hang on, he fell victim to a series of chokeslams from Big Bill and a spear from Starks to conclude the match.
FTR’s championship reign included nine successful title defenses against formidable opponents such as the Young Bucks, Aussie Open, MJF and Adam Cole, Bullet Club Gold, and more. Their reign solidified their status as one of the top tag teams in AEW.
The partnership between Ricky Starks and Big Bill began in August, with Starks transitioning into a managerial role after a storyline suspension. Starks selected Big Bill as his client, and their collaboration has proven successful, culminating in their championship victory.
While FTR may have lost the titles, it’s unlikely that their feud with the new champions is over.
