Note on Adam Copeland’s Theme in AEW – The wrestling world was sent into a frenzy as Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge in WWE, made his much-anticipated debut at AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view event. Copeland, a WWE Hall of Famer, arrived to save Darby Allin and Sting from an attack by Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne.
Notably, Copeland was able to use his iconic theme song from WWE and adopt the “Rated-R Superstar” nickname, as the trademark rights to the nickname had lapsed. He was also granted permission to use the song “Metalingus” by Alter Bridge, as he has a close friendship with the band.
This debut was not a one-time appearance, as Copeland has signed a full-time deal with AEW and is expected to wrestle regularly across all of AEW’s programming. He is set to deliver a promo on this week’s episode of Dynamite and will step into the ring for his first AEW match on the following Tuesday edition of Dynamite, where he will face Luchasaurus.
In an interesting detail, Chris Mueller of Bleacher Report confirmed on Twitter that the voice at the start of Copeland’s theme song is that of his wife, Beth Phoenix. They recorded the soundbite themselves, adding a personal touch to his AEW debut.
“I don’t know if this counts as breaking news or whatever, but I was able to confirm with him today that not only is the voice at the beginning of Adam Copeland’s AEW entrance music that of Beth Phoenix, but that it was Edge and Beth who recorded the clip themselves.”
