During a segment featuring Triple H and Dominik Mysterio, who was expressing grievances about Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defending the Undisputed Tag Team titles just days before their title match on Raw, Nick Aldis introduced Kevin Owens as the newest addition to SmackDown. Owens made an immediate impact by delivering his signature “Stunner” move to Dominik Mysterio, concluding the segment in dramatic fashion.
This trade was set in motion during the Payback event in September when Cody Rhodes revealed that he had successfully negotiated the transfer of Jey Uso to Raw. As part of the deal, a Raw superstar would be traded to SmackDown in return. After Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso won the WWE Tag Team titles at Fastlane, they defended their titles successfully on Monday, defeating Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, who had been teaming together for most of the year.
