However, it’s worth noting that El Patron has only competed in a limited number of matches in recent years, largely due to legal issues. He had faced charges of second-degree sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping dating back to May 2020 but ultimately had the case against him dismissed.
Despite these rumors and speculations, WWE has repeatedly denied any discussions or plans to bring him back. In December 2021, various wrestling promotions, including WWE, MLW, and Impact Wrestling, indicated that they had no interest in signing the former WWE Champion.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that, contrary to Del Rio’s claims about planning a return to WWE, especially before Vince McMahon’s retirement, no such discussions were taking place. When questioned about the matter, one higher-up in WWE bluntly stated, “No f**king chance.” This statement makes it clear that WWE had no intentions of bringing Alberto El Patron back into the fold.
