Matt Cardona Hints at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Appearance – Former WWE star Matt Cardona has teased a potential appearance on AEW’s Dynamite: Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.
This tease comes in response to a recent confrontation between Cardona and AEW star Santana, who attacked Cardona after Santana retained the House of Glory Title over Homicide at a recent event.
In a message to Santana, Cardona hinted at the possibility of showing up at the AEW event, playfully suggesting that Santana should stay in AEW and avoid the independent wrestling scene. He also referred to himself as the “indie God” and expressed his willingness to come to Santana’s show on a Wednesday night.
“I should be celebrating right now a big win over Homicide at House of Glory. Still your House of Glory Champion. I’m at the beautiful Holiday Inn Express, but Mike Santana. Santana is back. Had to show up on the indies, get a little pop ski to trend on social media. I probably didn’t trend, though. Mike, stay in AEW. First of all, your name is Mike. That’s news to me. Stay in AEW. Okay. Stay on Saturday nights. Wednesday nights. Stay away from the Indies. And that goes for everybody in AEW. Stay out of my world. I am the indie God. Okay. But, Santana, if you want me to come to your show, I can. Well, not on Saturdays because I’m booked, but on Wednesdays, I can come, and I’ll show you who the true king of New York really is.”
This potential appearance adds an interesting element to the already stacked Dynamite: Grand Slam card, which includes high-profile matches such as AEW World Champion MJF vs. Samoa Joe, AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya vs. Toni Storm, AEW International Champion Jon Moxley vs. Rey Fenix, ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli vs. NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston in a Title vs. Title Match, and Chris Jericho vs. Sammy Guevara.
Cardona recently said he’s had enough of the Indy BS and needs to come back to WWE.
