LA Knight’s Absence from WWE SmackDown Due to COVID-19 – LA Knight, who was originally scheduled to be part of the closing segment of the September 22 episode of WWE SmackDown, providing assistance to John Cena against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa, was notably absent from the show. This unexpected change was reportedly attributed to a medical issue.
According to reports from Fightful, LA Knight was slated to participate in a dark match following the SmackDown episode, but he did not appear on television or in the dark match. It was later revealed that Knight had tested positive for COVID-19 shortly before the show and had to leave the building as a result.
Sean Ross Sapp, in a tweet on X, confirmed the situation, stating: “Fightful has confirmed with WWE sources and those to him that LA Knight tested positive for COVID just before WWE Smackdown, and had to leave the building.”
On television, the closing segment of WWE SmackDown was originally planned to feature John Cena and AJ Styles signing the contract to face Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso at WWE Fastlane. However, the segment took an unexpected turn when Styles was attacked by Solo and Jimmy, culminating in Styles being loaded into an ambulance after the assault.
Knight’s absence due to the COVID-19 diagnosis underscores the ongoing challenges and disruptions faced by the wrestling industry in navigating the pandemic and ensuring the health and safety of its talent and staff.
