Backstage News On Bryan Danielson’s Return – Bryan Danielson made his highly anticipated return to AEW television during this week’s episode of AEW Collision at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. This return was made to set up a strap match against Ricky Starks at the All Out pay-per-view event.
Danielson had been sidelined with a broken arm that he sustained during a match at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event in June. Originally, it was expected that he would return to action in October, potentially before the October 1st WrestleDream PPV.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Danielson’s early return from injury. He clarified that the initial expectation was for Danielson to return in October and that there were doubts about him making a mid-September return. Ultimately, Danielson made his comeback about 17 days earlier than anticipated. Meltzer also noted that Danielson is known for being a team player, which might have influenced his decision to return earlier than expected.
Alvarez: Bryan Danielson vs. Ricky Starks tomorrow in a no DQ strap match. This guy is not supposed to be back tomorrow. He’s not supposed to be. You just wrote about it two days ago that it was touch and go for October.”
Meltzer: “No. He was going to be back in October. October was the scheduled return and it was touch and go for mid-September or I mean, it was essentially touch and go for the New York show [Arthur Ashe Stadium]. And I figured he was going to debut on the Seattle shows, if not the New York show. So it’s 17 days earlier. He was healing better than expected and it’s earlier than I expected. Put it that way and that’s from being appraised of the situation. It’s earlier. I was surprised. He’s a team player.”
