Following Rhea Ripley’s swift victory over Candice LeRae on the August 21 edition of WWE Raw, Rodriguez emerged, albeit limping with a crutch. In a surprising turn of events, Rodriguez discarded the crutch and engaged in a brawl with Ripley in the ring.
However, Ripley managed to evade the confrontation, prompting Rodriguez to seize a microphone and make a significant announcement. She revealed that she had received medical clearance and had already held discussions with Adam Pearce. Rodriguez declared her intention to challenge Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at the upcoming Payback premium live event.
This upcoming match will mark Rodriguez’s maiden singles bout at a premium live event since her debut on the main roster. Her last appearance was on the July 17 episode of WWE Raw, during which she and Liv Morgan lost the Women’s Tag Team Championships to Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green.
