7/21 WWE SmackDown Results – We begin with the now usual recap of what happened within members of The Bloodline.
We see Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman walking backstage.
We are live from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, as the action is ready to begin with the Fatal 4 Way for the WWE United States Title Invitational. Austin Theory joins Cole and Barrett at the announce table. We see Wes Lee and Dragon Lee in the crowd.
Fatal 4 Way for the WWE United States Title Invitational
LA Knight vs. Sheamus vs. Cameron Grimes vs. Rey Mysterio
LA Knight’s music hits and the crowd in Orlando goes absolutely nuts as the charismatic performer makes his way out and heads to the ring for this high stakes opening contest. Knight has a microphone in-hand and says, “Let me talk to ya!” He says “The Biggest Party of the Summer” is around the corner and vows the beat Theory for the U.S. title (YEAH!).
The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one. All four men duke it out. Grimes knocks Mysterio out to the floor. Knight does the same to Sheamus. Grimes tries throwing Knight out, but Knight lands on the apron and slingshots himself back in for a battering ram shoulder block. He leads the fans in a “LA KNIGHT — YEAH!” chant as we head to a mid-match commercial break.
We are back and Sheamus and Knight are in the ring while Grimes sends Rey into the ringside barrier. Knight with a clothesline to Sheamus for a near fall. LA with a knee and he sends Sheamus into the turnbuckles. Sheamus with a punch to Knight and Sheamus with a Finlay Slam for a near fall. Knight avoids a clothesline and connects with a back elbow. Knight is sent to the apron and Sheamus with a clothesline. Grimes with an O’Connor Roll but Grimes is sent into the ropes and Rey wtih a drop kick to Grimes to send Knight to the floor. Sheamus sets Grimes in the ropes for Rey while Sheamus has Knight and they hit stereo forearms.
Rey and Sheamus shake hands and Rey tries for a take down but Sheamus stays on his feet. They shake hands again and Sheamus goes for a slam but Rey escapes and he drop kicks Sheamus into the ropes. Sheamus with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Sheamus gets Rey up but Grimes with a cross body to Sheamus. Grimes with kicks to Sheamus and Rey. Knight turns into a drop kick from Grimes. Rey goes for a tornado DDT but Grimes counters with a side effect for a near fall. Sheamus chops Grimes and gets him up for a power slam but Grimes escapes and drop kicks Sheamus. Grimes with kicks to Sheamus but Sheamus with a running double sledge. Sheamus with a uranage back breaker and then he sends Knight to the floor. Knight pulls Sheamus to the floor.
Knight with a back drop driver to Sheamus on the apron. Grimes goes for a suicide dive but Knight with a forearm. Rey with a drop kick through the ropes to Knight. Rey goes up top and Knight crotches Rey. Knight sets for a superplex and Sheamus joins in. Knight pulls Sheamus off and Grimes goes for a rana on Sheamus but Sheamus blocks it. They hit a Tower of Doom as we go to commercial.
We are back and Grimes gets a near fall on Rey. Sheamus and Knight go down on the floor while Grimes gets Rey on his shoulders. Rey and Grimes go over the top rope to the floor. Rey with a rana that sends Grimes at Theory’s chair but Theory gets up. Theory accuses Rey of doing that intentionally. Sheamus with a clothesline to Rey and Grimes. Sheamus sends Grimes and Rey into the ringside barrier. Sheamus goes up top and hits a clothesline on Knight. Sheamus with a power slam to Rey and he hits an Air Raid Crash on Knight for a near fall.
Sheamus sets for a Brogue Kick. Sheamus punches Grimes and Knight catches Sheamus and hits a uranage for a near fall when Rey breaks up the cover. Grimes with a kick to Knight and Sheamus with a knee to Grimes. Knight with a Burning Hammer to Sheamus and Rey breaks up the cover. Grimes with Spanish Fly to Rey for a near fall. Rey with a 619 to the midsection to avoid being sent to the floor. Rey with a kick to Grimes from the apron. Rey goes up top and Grimes stops him. Sheamus stops Grimes on the turnbuckles and Sheamus gets Grimes on his shoulders. Grimes gets to his feet and Rey with a head scissors that sends Sheamus and Grimes into the ropes. Rey with a 619 to both men and Rey hits a splash on Grimes for a near fall when Theory pulls Rey out of the ring.
Theory sends Rey into the ring steps. Santos Escober attacks Rey and they fight into the crowd. Knight sets for the Yeahples Elbow and hits it. Sheamus with a Brogue Kick to Knight and Grimes with Cave In. Rey with a West Coast Pop for the three count.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
After the match, Rey and Santos are in the ring together but will they be friends next week when they wrestle for a shot against the US Champion?
We go to commercial.
– We are back and The Cavinder Twins are in the crowd.
– Jey Uso walks in the back and he sees Tony D’Angelo and Channing Lorenzo. He also sees the Creed Brothers.
Backstage:
Austin Theory walks in the back and he sees Adam Pearce on the phone. Austin wants to know why did Santos attack him and he wants a match. Adam says the match will be for the title, but Theory says that Santos doesn’t deserve a title match. He disrespected him so he wants Santos one on one. Adam gives him the match.
– We take a look at what happened between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar on Raw.
– We see NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams in the crowd.
– Charlotte Flair makes her way to the ring as we go to commercial. She will face Iyo Sky next.
Charlotte Flair vs. Iyo Sky
Back live, we see NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton sitting in the front row. Stands up for her on-camera cameo appearance. Now Iyo Sky’s theme hits and Ms. Money In The Bank makes her way down to the ring.
Michael Cole confirms Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair in a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2023 on August 5. Now the bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one.
They lock up and Iyo goes to the turnbuckles but Charlotte avoids an arm drag. Charlotte with a side head lock and Charlotte with a shoulder tackle. Charlotte with some handsprings and then Iyo does a few of her own. Iyo with a drop kick to the leg. Charlotte blocks a kick and she takes Iyo to the mat. Charlotte goes for a handspring clothesline into the corner but Iyo with boots and she kicks Charlotte. Charlotte does the Flair flip to the apron and she kicks Iyo and then she goes up top and hits a cross body. Charlotte kicks Iyo in the corner and Iyo escapes a fallaway slam attempt and Iyo with a drop kick to teh back. Charlotte sends Iyo to the apron and Iyo with a shoulder and a springboard drop kick.
Iyo gets a near fall. Charlotte with a standing switch but Iyo goes to through the ropes to the floor. Iyo misses a sliding boot on the apron and Charlotte kicks Iyo off the apron. Charlotte goes for a pescado but Iyo moves and Charlotte lands on her feet. Iyo with a head scissors as we go to commercial.
We are back and Bayley has some words for Charlotte before Charlotte sends Iyo back into the ring. Charlotte with a forearm and she puts Iyo’s leg in the ropes but misses a knee. Iyo with a running double knee strike to Charlotte for a near fall. Charlotte with a belly-to-back suplex. Charlotte with a forearm and Iyo with a kick to the knee. Charlotte with a kick and chops. Charlotte catches Iyo on a cross body attempt and Charlotte with a fallaway slam. Charlotte with a handspring clothesline for a near fall. Charlotte with a back breaker and she sends Iyo into the turnbuckles. Charlotte puts Iyo on the turnbuckles and she chops Iyo.
Bayley gets up from the announce table and Iyo stops Charlotte and Charlotte blocks a sunset flip power bomb for a moment but Iyo hits the power bomb for a near fall.
We see images of Shotzi being crazy on the TitanTron and Bayley looks around. Iyo wants to know why Bayley is abandoning her. Iyo goes to the turnbuckles for a moonsault but Charlotte pulls Iyo off the turnbuckles and Charlotte misses a spear and hits the turnbuckle. Iyo goes up top and misses a moonsault. Charlotte goes up for a moonsault but Iyo gets her boots up. Iyo with a La Mistica into a crossface. Iyo with a crucifix for a near fall. Charlotte gets a near fall. Iyo goes to the apron and Charlotte misses a boot. Iyo drops the leg on the top rope. Iyo goes up top and goes for a missile drop kick but Charlotte moves. Charlotte with a Boston Crab but Iyo counters and gets a near fall.
Iyo with a drop kick. Iyo with forearms. Charlotte with a spear for a near fall. Iyo gets a near fall but Charlotte with a German suplex for a near fall. Iyo with a victory roll and double stomp. Charlotte goes up top but Iyo stops Charlotte on the turnbuckles. Iyo with a shotei and Iyo sets for a Frankensteiner and hits it for a near fall. Charlotte with a rollup for a near fall. Iyo with a rollup for a near fall. Charlotte with Natural Selection for the three count.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
After the match, Asuka with a German suplex and sliding kick. Asuka with a cross arm breaker.
– We go to footage from NXT when Dominik Mysterio became the new North American Champion.
Backstage:
Kayla Braxton is in the back with Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio. Kayla asks why is Dom on Smackdown. Dom says he wants to show his deadbeat dad Rey Mysterio what a champion looks like. If he wins the title, he is just champion of the United States. Dom says he is the champion of North America and that is 23 countries.
Butch shows up and suggests that Dom face him for the title. Dom says no one from NXT is here to make the match official. Shawn Michaels shows up and he says that sounds good so the match is official.
– We go to the Roman Room and he stares at his lei. He stares at Solo while Solo nods. Paul has a confused look on his face.
– Austin Theory makes his way to the ring as we go to commercial.
Backstage:
We are back and Iyo and Bayley make their way to the locker room and we see that Bayley’s back has been damaged and there are a pair of scissors stuck into a photo on the bag. She tells Iyo it is time to leave.
Austin Theory vs. Santos Escobar
They lock up and Santos with punches. Theory gets Santos on his shoulders but Santos escapes and Sanots with a drop kick. Theory with a kick and he sends Santos into the turnbuckles. Theory with kicks. Theory with a suplex for a near fall. Escobar with a head scissors take down. Theory with a kick and DDT for a near fall. Theory sends Escobar into the turnbuckles and kicks Santos. Santos with a punch and he goes to the turnbuckles for more punches. Santos gets a near fall. Santos with a victory roll and he tries for a rocking horse but Theory escapes. Santos clotheslines Theory over the top rope and then Santos sets for a suicide dive but Theory gets out of the way.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Theory with an Irish whip and back breaker for a near fall. We see footage of Theory hitting the slingshot rolling drop kick during the commercial break. Theory sends Santos to the apron and he follows. Theory tries to suplex Santos to the floor and Santos stays in the ring. Santos kicks Theory off the apron. Santos with a suicide dive that sends Theory onto the announce table. They get back into the ring and Santos with flying forearms. Santos with a head scissors that sends Theory into the turnbuckles. Santos is sent to the apron and Santos with a forearm and kick. Santos goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall.
Santos sets for the Phantom Driver but Theory clips Santos and connects with a forearm for a near fall. Theory with an Ushigoroshi for a near fall. Theory signals that it is over but Santos escapes and Santos with a drop kick. They go to the turnbuckles and Theory pushes Santos off. They get back onto the turnbuckles and Santos with a hurricanrana. Santos with a running double knee strike and a Phantom Driver for the three count,.
Winner: Santos Escobar
– Bobby Lashley is in the back with Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Bobby says he was hoping to see them tonight.
We go to commercial.
– We see footage of Elton Prince suffering an injury last week in Pretty Deadly’s tag match against Ridge Holland and Sheamus.
Dominik Mysterio vs Butch for the NXT North American Champoinship
They lock up and Butch backs Dom into the ropes and Butch with a break and Dom with a forearm. Dom with a side head lock and Butch with a clothesline. Butch works on the wrist and then plays with Dom’s fingers and pulls at them. Butch stomps on the elbow but Dom with a boot. Butch with a hammer lock and he stomps on the back of the head. Butch with a cross arm breaker and Dom gets to the ropes to force a break. Dom drops Butch on the top rope and Rhea gives Dom a chain. Rhea distracts the referee but Ridge takes the chain. Butch with an enzuigiri and an X Plex for a near fall.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Dom with a slingshot senton for a near fall. Dom with a reverse chin lock.
Elton and Kit make their way to the ring and Kit pushes Elton in a wheelchair.
Dom with a take down and he kicks Butch. Butch with a forearm and kicks in the corner. Butch with a knee drop to the arm and a forearm to Dom. Butch with a running kick to Dom. Dom puts Butch in the ropes but Butch gets off the ropes and hits a German suplex followed by a round kick for a near fall.
Kit kicks Ridge and then Butch punches Kit. Kit backs away and he leaves Elton in the wheelchair. Butch and Ridge see Elton and then Elton runs to the back and he takes care of Ridge.
Butch with an enzuigiri to Dom and Rhea clips Butch. Dom sends Butch into the ring post and Dom gets the three count.
Winner: Dominik Mysterio
– Next week, Karl Anderson faces Karrion Kross.
– Jey Uso’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.
We go to commercial.
In the Arena:
We are back and Jey paces in the ring, while Roman Reigns’ music play and he makes his way to the ring with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman.
Roman takes the mic and he wants Orlando to ACKNOWLEDGE HIM.
Roman sits at the head of the table while Jey sits on one side of the table, but he does not look at Roman.
Roman asks Jey if he still wants to do this.
Jey says he still wants to do this. He says he is supposed to do this. Roman is making him do this because you took the shot and took out Jimmy and put him in the hospital. Jey says he has to get Roman.
Roman tells Little Jey he ain’t going to get him because he doesn’t get it. You are just a soldier. A pawn in this game.
Roman opens the official contract binder and Paul hands him a pen. Roman signs the document and passes it to Jey. Paul takes his pen back.
Jey rips up the document.
Jey says they don’t need a contract. The contract is in the blood. This is tribal combat now.
Roman asks if the elders know about it and Jey says it was their idea. Jey says anything goes. I can do what I want. He could even take that lady’s slipper and hit you with it.
Roman tells Orlando to shut up. He tells Jey to shut his mouth because the tribal chief is talking. This isn’t his first rodeo. He has been running this business for a decade.
Roman says the title doesn’t mean anything to him. It’s done.
Jey says it is Tribal Combat.
Roman takes off his lei and puts it on the title belt.
They do the official family hand shake and it is official.
Roman turns away and leaves the ring but he signals to Solo. Solo knocks over the table and Roman stops Solo from giving Jey a Samoan Spike. Jey with a super kick.
Roman leaves the ring. Roman looks at Jey nervously and then exits the ring with “The Wise Man” Paul Heyman. Jey Uso’s theme plays and he and Roman stare each other down as this week’s show goes off the air.
