Two first-round matches in the NXT Women’s Championship tournament took place on the May 9 episode of WWE NXT.
In the opening bout of the night, Tiffany Stratton battled Gigi Dolin for the first time. After Stratton hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, she was able to score the three-count to advance.
Later on, Lyra Valkyria took on Kiana James and was able to withstand the former tag team champion to pick up the pinfall win.
Looking forward to the semifinals, Stratton will face the winner of Roxanne Perez vs. Jacy Jayne, while Valkyria will take on the winner of Fallon Henley vs. Cora Jade. The tournament finals for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship will take place at NXT Battleground on May 28.
