The Elite Could End Up In WWE In A Few Months

The Elite Could End Up In WWE In A Few Months – Dave Meltzer posted an update on Kenny Omega in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Omega’s name was reported last week as the free agent that WWE has an interest in.

Meltzer noted that Omega’s name has been “heavily talked about” in certain circles within WWE and other places in wrestling. Meltzer did not say who else is interested but presumably, a full-time NJPW deal could be on the table and companies like Impact might be interested if they can match his asking price.

Meltzer noted that Omega’s contract was set to expire at the end of January since he signed with AEW on February 1, 2019 and he had a 4-year deal but he was out with an injury for nine months and time could be added but that has not been finalized. If AEW tacks on the nine months then he wouldn’t be free to negotiate with another promotion until November.

Meltzer added that with Barry Bloom representing Omega and The Young Bucks, the feeling is that they would have a good shot at sticking together…in other words, a package deal. For decades, Bloom has represented many big names in the business including Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura, Kevin Nash, Chris Jericho, and many others.

It’s unclear if Omega and The Bucks are leaning in the direction of AEW, WWE or elsewhere but it’s worth noting that they had talks with Triple H before AEW launched and Omega has been complimentary of WWE and has even suggested that AEW and WWE could work together someday.

If Omega and The Bucks want to headline WrestleMania and work for the biggest company in the world then they are at the stage of their life where they would have to consider the move. Omega is 39, Matt Jackson is 37 and Nick is 33. Of course, everything depends on their family situation and how much they want to be away from home. AEW’s schedule offers them more time off than WWE does but the idea of working WrestleMania is tempting to many wrestlers and WWE has shown with Cody Rhodes that they are willing to push you to the top even if you previously worked for the competition.
