John Cena Returns To WWE – Speaks With Fans After SmackDown – John Cena returned to the ring during tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, teaming with Kevin Owens to defeat Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens.
The finish saw Cena hit the AA on Reigns followed by Owens hitting a stunner on Zayn. While Reigns rolled out of the ring, Owens pinned Zayn for the win.
After SmackDown went off the air, John Cena grabbed the microphone to talk to the fans.
In the video below, Cena referenced the local sports teams and he encouraged the fans to get loud. Cena then thanked everyone that he shared the ring with and he thanked the fans for sharing the holidays “with us” and he thanked them for giving him the gift of stepping in the ring for 20 straight years.
Cena noted that he’s had at least one match every year since he started in 2002 and it almost didn’t happen this year until he found out that SmackDown would be in hometown of Tampa Bay. Cena again thanked the wrestlers he shared the ring with and the fans for all the hard work they do to come out to shows. Check out Cena’s promo below.
This marked Cena’s first televised victory since the January 7, 2019 episode of WWE Raw when he teamed with Finn Balor & Seth Rollins to defeat Bobby Lashley, Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) & Drew McIntyre.Friday marked Cena’s first televised bout since WWE SummerSlam 2021 when he lost to Reigns. Cena has wrestled at least once on television every year since he made his WWE debut in 2002.
