AEW Stops Hyping MJF – Wardlow Match On Twitter – There has been a lot of talk about MJF’s status for tonight’s Double Or Nothing after he booked a flight out of Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night.
PWInsider reports that MJF is still in Las Vegas as he did not fly back to the east coast. It’s still not clear yet whether something was worked out between MJF and AEW President Tony Khan.
They also emphasize that this is by no means some kind of work or storyline the company is trying to promote.
On Sunday morning, the AEW Twitter account sent out a message hyping the MJF vs. Wardlow match at Double Or Nothing, but quickly deleted it. It should be noted that there have not been any reports regarding the match being nixed so it’s still on until AEW announces a change.
As previously reported, MJF no-showed a fan fest on Saturday. Security told fans that MJF was not answering his phone and they made other arrangements. There has been a feeling backstage that MJF and AEW are not on the same page as of late in addition to MJF keeping more to himself behind the scenes.
MJF has made it publicly known that his AEW contract runs out on January 1, 2024, and he plans on seeing what AEW as well as WWE is willing to offer him when that time comes. AEW has made overtures to him regarding a new deal, but he’s not interested in signing an extension.
