Xia Li Turning Heel? – Xia Li brought a lot of eyes to WWE for being the first Chinese talent to join the sports and entertainment giant. Xia signed with WWE in January 2017 and made her WWE debut at the inaugural Mae Young Classic the same year.
Xia was drafted to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2021 Draft. She made her main roster debut on the December 10th episode of SmackDown as a face. Her in-ring debut took place in February 2022.
Xia Lee apparently turned heel during tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Xia cut a promo backstage wherein she ditched her role as the protector, saying would protect herself going forward. “I see no one worthy of my protection. Now, I protect myself,” said Li.
Li hasn’t appeared on television since February. Lia previously wrestled as part of the NXT brand and then was moved up to work dark matches and house shows last July. She made her SmackDown debut in December with a superhero-like gimmick where she would shoot lightning during her entrance.
Despite a lot of hype for her main roster debut, she hasn’t done much outside of wrestling Natalya on TV and a couple of dark matches. Her appearance this week seemed to be somewhat of a reset ahead of her in-ring return.
