AEW Rampage Results (4/15)

We are live and underway from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas as Excalibur, Taz, and Ricky Starks are on commentary.

Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta) (w/William Regal) vs. Gunn Club (Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn)

Danielson, Yuta, and Moxley all get separate entrances. Regal enters with Yuta and then takes a seat at the commentary desk.

Yuta and Austin start out. Austin gets the better of an early exchange and trips up Yuta. Yuta turns the tables and goes to work on Austin’s arm.

Austin escapes and tags in Colten. He whips Yuta into the corner but Yuta swats away a dropkick and ties up Colten’s legs. Colten gets to the ropes to break the hold.

Yuta tags in Danielson, who continues to work on Colten’s legs. He works his way to a surfboard on Colten.

Danielson releases Colten and Colten tags in Billy. Billy pushes Danielson into the corner and whips him into the corner. Danielson avoids a charge and lights up Billy with chops and kicks. Danielson hits one running kick into the corner but Billy meets him on his second attempt and takes him down with a clothesline as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

Bryan was worked over with Colton tagging in and continuing to work him over.  Bryan used a drop toehold to send him into the buckles.  Bryan made the hot tag to Moxley, who cleaned house on the Gunns.  He nailed a half and half suplex on Colton and drilled Austin with a forearm shiver.  He nailed a back elbow and a lariat on Colton.  He placed him on top and beat him down with shots across the back.  Moxley hit a double DDT on the Billy Gunn Sons but Colton drilled him in the face.  Moxley nailed a lariat and made the hot tag to Yuta.

Yuta hit the ring and nailed a bodypress into the ring.  Moxley and Bryan teased a double dive but Billy drilled him.  Yuta faced off with Gunn.  Gunn elevated and slammed him but Yuta kicked up.  Yuta avoided the Famouser and used the Backlund Bridge to score the pinfall.

Winners: The Blackpool Combat Club

That is the first loss for Gunn Club as a trios unit in AEW. They entered tonight’s match with a 24-o record.

The Butcher vs. Barrett Brown

Shawn Spears joined the announcers.

Brown is a local talent.  He nailed a missile dropkick from behind but it had no effect.  The Butcher, who has gotten into awesome shape, just beat the crap out of poor Mr. Brown.  He powerbombed Brown and that was it.  Spears knocked Wardlow during the commentary.

Winner: The Butcher

— They went backstage to Dustin Rhodes, who rallied Dallas.  He said he’s been on this last ride for some time and took Lance Archer out of the top five.  Dustin showed he still has it after five decades in the business.  He said that he has something deep from his heart that he wants the fans to listen to.  He is making a challenge to one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet, challenging CM Punk to a match.  Holy crap, that is awesome.  He wants Punk in Pittsburgh.  The Dallas fans were less enthused when they realized the match wasn’t happening tonight.

Owen Hart Foundation Qualifying Tournament: Ruby Soho vs. Robyn Renegade

Renegade powers Soho into the corner to start and does some taunting.

Soho grabs a hammerlock but Renegade reverses and taunts her some more.

Soho fires up and lays in some strikes and headbutts. Soho charges into the corner but Renegade avoids it and catches Soho in mid-handstand in the corner with a kick to the face for a 2-count.

Renegade locks on a camel clutch in the middle of the ring as we go to the picture-in-picture break.

Back from the break, Renegade is still in control. But Soho quickly takes it back with a backdrop suplex.

Soho with a clothesline and back elbow to take down Renegade. Headscissor in the corner by Soho to drive Renegade into the middle turnbuckle.

Renegade goes to the eyes and rolls to the floor, where her twin sister Charlette Renegade rolls out from under the ring and switches places with her.

Soho dives from the top with a senton and gets double knees from Charlette. Charlette hoists up Soho who slips out and hits No Future. Charlette manages to roll out and back under the ring.

Another Renegade, presumably Robyn, runs in from the opposite side and tries a rollup but Soho kicks out. Soho hits No Future and pins Robyn Renegade for the win.

Winner: Ruby Soho

— We shoot backstage where Mark Henry hosts the weekly split-screen pre-main event interview. “Hangman” begins first, vowing to end the obsession that Cole has with him and his championship tonight.

Adam Cole then takes his turn to speak, delivering a quick message about why he feels he is going to win. Mark Henry then chimes back in and does his “enough talk” catchphrase. We then head to a pre-match commercial break.

AEW Championship Texas Deathmatch
“Hangman” Adam Page (C) vs. Adam Cole

Page immediately goes under the ring for some steel chairs before he gets in the ring and gets right into Cole’s face before the bell rings.

Referee Paul Turner gets them separated and rings the bell.

Page and Cole pick up the chairs and start swinging at each other. A few misses before Page connects. The fight spills outside and Cole creates some distance but Page boots a steel chair right into Cole’s face.

Page throws Cole into a ringside barricade. Page sends Cole into the steel ring steps too. Page rams Cole into the timekeeper’s table.

Cole is just trying to survive but gets sent over the barricade by Page. They start to brawl through the crowd with Page in firm control. Both men make their way up the steps of one section of seating. He gets a beer from a fan and hits Cole with it.

Cole flees all the way back into the ring. Page is right behind and lands some shots as soon as gets back into the ring with Cole.

Page gets a steel chair and climbs to the top rope. He fakes a moonsault to bait Cole into trying a superkick and then hits the moonsault to the standing Cole.

Turner starts a 10-count but Cole gets back to his feet. Page props up the chair in the corner and rams Cole’s head into it.

Cole rolls out of the ring. Page opens the chair in the middle of the ring and takes a seat to relax for a few moments. Turner starts the count on Cole, who is busted open. Cole beats the 10-count as we go the picture-in-picture break.

Cole worked over Page and set up several chairs to put Hangman through as they returned from commercial.  They battled with Hangman hitting a DVDR through the chairs.

Cole went for the Panama Sunrise but it was blocked.  Hangman nailed the lariat but his knee was hurting him.  Cole was being counted out but rolled out of the ring to get on his feet and break the count.  Hangman went for a dive but Cole kicked him in mid-air.  This busted up Hangman’s mouth.

Paul Turner began counting out Page.  Hangman returned to the ring, where Cole nailed the Panama Sunrise on a pile of chairs.  Hangman made the count right before the ten count.  Cole smashed him into the buckles and pulled up Page to the top rope.  They battled atop the ropes until Page nailed a throwing superplex off the top into the chair pile.

They sat in chairs in the center of the ring, battering each other with punches, with it getting more intense the longer it went.  They fired back and forth with superkicks and pump kicks.  Cole menaced and worked over Page, who fired back with a big Buckshot lariat.  Page used his belt to tie Cole to the ring ropes.  He pulled out a barbed wire chair.  He went to use it but had doubts, leaving himself open to a low blow.  Cole nailed a series of superkicks but was hit with a big discus lariat.

Page, no longer doubtful, wrapped the barbed wire around his arm.  Cole cut him off with a superkick.  Page went to the apron outside.  Cole went for the Panama Sunrise on the outside but Page blasted him with the barbed wire wrapped arm.  He put the barbed wire around Cole’s head and hit an INSANE looking Deadeye off the apron through a table to the floor.

Cole was counted out on the floor.

Winner and still AEW Champion, Hangman Page!

We go to credits.
