As noted, Davey Boy Smith Jr returned to WWE last night after working a dark match, where he teamed up with Austin Theory.
Smith later confirmed he’s back with the company while speaking with Megan Morant for a post-match backstage interview, where he said he spent the past ten years going around the globe, making himself the best competitor that he can be.
PWinsider.com provided some additional details on how his return came about. Per the report, Smith was signed as early as this past March. The news wasn’t announced because the two sides wanted to keep the signing quiet until the timing was right for him to officially return to the company.
Davey Boy Smith first run with the WWE came from 2006-2011 and then went to work for various promotions such as NJPW and MLW. During that time, he found success with Tyson Kidd where they held the Tag Team Titles.
While away from WWE, he worked all over the world including MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and All Japan Pro Wrestling.
