Belair used her impressive athleticism to counter Bayley’s veteran prowess, and for both competitors, their respective strengths nearly helped them earn the victory at various points. But the match was somehow focused on their hair. Bayley used Belair’s hair to pull the champion into a Bayley-to-Belly, but Belair ultimately emerged victorious by using her braid to gain extra leverage in a pin for the win.
During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez commented on the current situation with the SmackDown Women’s Title picture. He presumed that a hair vs hair match could be on the line as the writing seems to be on the wall for such a gimmick.
“Bianca beat her using the hair. The finish was botched, but you got the idea. I don’t know if this is going to lead to a hair vs hair match, but I have a feeling that Bayley is going to put her hair on the line against the ponytail and probably get shaved bald. That would be my guess.”
Bianca Belair and her ponytail are not likely to separate from each other any time soon. That is her gimmick, but it doesn’t mean that putting it on the line is out of the question. We will have to see what WWE books. They were going to put Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville in a hair vs hair match last year. The match was later scrapped because Deville couldn’t shave her head in the midst of her stalker trial. Now WWE could be circling back around to that idea.
