NXT Results – May 25, 2021 – Tonight’s NXT episode begins with a look at the NXT Xhampionship match between Karrion Kross and Finn Balor that will take place later tonight.

— We are at the Capitol Wrestling Centre and your announcers are Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph, and Beth Phoenix. They run through the card for tonight’s show while all wearing matching blue suits.

Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez vs. Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon

Shotzi and Gonzalez start things off and Shotzi with a reverse chin lock but Gonzalez with a snap mare.  Gonzalez goes for a slam but Shotzi escapes.  Gonzalez sends Shotzi to the mat and Ember tags in.  Ember goes for a sunset flip but Gonzalez does not go down.  Gonzalez catches Moon on a cross body and then Moon with a rana for a near fall.  Moon with a rollup for a near fall.  Ember goes to the floor and Gonzalez follows.  Gonzalez catches Moon and Kai tags in while Gonzalez slams Moon and Gonzalez assists Kai with a double stomp for a near fall.  Gonzalez tags in and kicks Moon in the corner.  Gonzalez with a hard Irish whip and Kai tags in and misses a boot.  Shotzi tags in and connects with an arm drag.

Shotzi with a splash to Kai and a spinning bulldog.  Shotzi with a back senton into the ropes and she gets a near fall.  Ember tags in and trips Kai followed by an elbow drop from Shotzi and a senton for a near fall from Moon.  Shotzi tags in and Kai gets her feet up but Shotzi stops Kai and sends her to the mat and applies a cloverleaf.  Kai tries to get to the ropes and Gonzalez pulls Kai to the apron to get out of the hold.  Gonzalez tags in and hits an elbow drop or two.  Gonzalez gets a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Shotzi with a clothesline and both women are down.  Moon tags in and drop kicks Gonzalez a few times and it only drops Gonzalez to her knees.  Moon with punches and a rolling elbow.  Moon with a hesitation knee to the midsection and then she hits a Codebreaker off the turnbuckles.  Moon avoids a kick from Kai but Gonzalez with a boot to Moon.  Kai tags in and Gonzalez gets Moon up and Kai with a round kick but Shotzi breaks up the cover.  Shotzi tags in and she kicks Kai and connects with a forearm and scorpion kick.  Shotzi with a face buster for a near fall.

Moon tags in and Gonzalez pulls Kai off Moon’s shoulders.  Shotzi with a cross body to Gonzalez.  Ember blocks a kick and applies a modified STF but Gonzalez with a forearm from behind.  Gonzalez goes for the choke slam but Ember with a cutter.  Ember and Shotzi hit a Dominator and sliding DDT for the three count.

Winners:  Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart

After the match, Gonzalez attacks Moon and Shotzi.  Gonzalez tells Kai to hold Moon up so she can see what Gonzalez does to Shotzi.  Gonzalez runs Shotzi into the plexiglass and ring post before Gonzalez hot shots Shotzi on the ringside barrier.

— Tommaso Ciampa and TImothy Thatcher are in the back.  CIampa says they put the cart before the horse when they called out MSK.  GYV showed up and had an agenda.  Thatcher says their path runs straight through you.  You won round one, but we won round two.  There will be a round three.  Ciampa gets up and leaves.  Thatcher picks up his chair and throws it at the door.  Thatcher says he is going to enjoying breaking your limbs.

— We have a video package for Bobby Fish and Pete Dunne because their match is next… after the commercial break.

— We are back with footage of Finn Balor walking through the most dangerous parking lot in sports entertainment. We also see Karrion Kross and Scarlett arriving in the garage.

Pete Dunne vs. Bobby Fish

Dunne avoids a round kick but Fish with a knee in the corner.  Dunne with a wrist lock and Fish with a kick to the leg and a leg sweep.  Fish with a kick to the chest.  Fish with punches and knees in the ropes.  Dunne with a forearm and Fish goes down.  Dunne with a punch to the forehead.  Dunne stands on the knee and works on the other leg.  Dunne works on the ankle but Fish goes for a chin lock.  Dunne with punches to Fish as he has a mount position on Fish.  Dunne with kicks to the back of the leg.  Dunne with a snap mare and he falls back to the mat as he tries to hyper-extend the arm.  Dunne with a side head lock.  Dunne sends Fish into the corner and Fish with an elbow.

Dunne with a snap mare and Fish escapes and applies a Fujiwara arm bar.  Fish holds on to an arm bar as Dunne tries to escape.  Dunne with punches but Fish holds on to the arm bar.  Fish drops Dunne’s arm on the top rope and follows with a knee.  Fish kicks Dunne through the ropes to the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Dunne with an ankle lock.  Dunne sets for a surfboard but he punches and slaps Fish.  Dunne with a wrist lock and a boot to the head.  Fish runs Dunne into the corner and Fish with a dragon screw leg whip.  Fish with a spinebuster and then he punches Dunne and connects with knees to the ribs.  Fish with a sleeper but Dunne pulls at the fingers and he escapes.  Dunne with a knee drop on the surgically repaired arm.  Fish goes to the floor and Dunne follows but Fish with a back body drop on the floor.  Fish with a running knee to the head against the ringside barrier.

Dunne with an enzuigiri in the ring.  Dunne tries for a kimura with a body scissors but Fish counters into a suplex into the ropes and Fish gets a near fall.  Fish and Dunne with knees to the midsection.  Fish with the advantage.  Fish with more knees in the corner.  Dunne goes down and then Dunne with a German suplex and he stomps on the hands and hits a round kick to the temple.  Dunne misses a running knee and Fish with a flying knee to the head for a near fall.

Dunne goes for a cross arm breaker but Fish blocks it.  Dunne pulls at the fingers and then he applies the cross arm breaker but Fish rolls through to escape and Fish with an arm bar submission.  Dunne rolls through and hits the Bitter End for the three count.

Winner:  Pete Dunne

After the match, Lorcan comes into the ring and he sends Fish shoulder first into the turnbuckles.  Lorcan removes the ring skirt and puts Fish’s arm under the rope for the skirt.  Lorcan stands on the arm and Fish’s chest.  Referees come out to hold up their arms and suggest that Lorcan leave.  That never works so Lorcan with a running boot to the arm.

— We take a look back at the North American Championship Match from last week when Bronson Reed became the new champion.

— Mercdes Martinez is in the back.  She says she took Raquel to the limit. She might not have won but she learned from the loss.  She starts the road back to the championship. We see Boa in the background as we go to commercial.

— We are back with a Hit Row video. They say every week they put people on notice.  This is the land of opportunities and it is time for Hit Row to go gold.  Scott says all eyes will be on the main event and he is looking forward to whoever wins tonight.  Top Dolla says they have their eyes on MSK.  Ashante says he has his eyes on the Time Splitter and he will knock their ass back to the future.  

Mercedes Martinez vs. Zayda Ramir

Martinez with a waist lock take down into a front face lock.  Ramir with an arm drag and drop kick followed by a running European uppercut into the corner.  Ramir floats over but Martinez catches Ramir.  Ramir with a kick for a near fall.  Martinez with a rolling elbow.   Martinez with two butterfly suplexes and a delayed butterfly suplex for a near fall.  Martinez with a dragon sleeper.  Martinez gets Ramir up but Ramir gets to her feet and she gets a near fall with a rollup.  Martinez with a spinebuster for a near fall.  Ramir with a head scissors take down into a rear naked choke.  Martinez gets Ramir on her shoulders and Martinez runs Ramir into the corner to get out of the hold.

Martinez puts Ramir on the turnbuckles and Ramir kicks Martinez away.  Martinez with a press slam and a running knee.  Martinez with an Air Raid Crash for the three count.

Winner:  Mercedes Martinez

After the match, the lights go down and smoke fills the ring.  On the GameTron, Tian Sha appears and then the lights go back out. When they come back o, Martinez sees that the symbol is on her hand.

— Ted DiBiase is in the back talking to Toni Storm.  Ted starts to walk and Robert Stone shows up with Aliyah and Jessi Kamea.  Ted tosses money at Robert and walks away.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and we see Karrion Kross preparing in black and white.

— We go back to the ring for tonight’s Million Dollar Face-Off as Cameron Grimes makes his way out first. Grimes goes to speak but the familiar music interrupts and out comes WWE Hall of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase Sr. Grimes looks on and he’s not happy.

Grimes asks Ted why? Grimes says he wasn’t always this rich but he started to flaunt a little bit and then Ted shows up, embarrassing him. Grimes wants to know why. He says he looks up to Ted and he saw, because of Ted, that with money he can treat people terribly and they will still like him. Grimes says it must be true that you should never meet your idols. Ted says he really likes Grimes and they are a lot alike. Ted says he did put Grimes through a lot but when he looks at Grimes he also sees a little bit of himself. Ted says he’s here because he’s looking for the one individual who embodies everything The Million Dollar Man stands for, the Million Dollar legacy. It’s not all about the money or treating people bad with money, it’s about in-ring performance and he’s seen it, Grimes has what it takes. Ted says since Grimes got rich, he lost his focus but he can regain that focus… the music interrupts and out comes LA Knight.

Fans boo as Knight takes the mic on the stage. Knight hears Ted talking about his million dollar legacy and he sees a million dollar opportunity. Knight introduces himself to Ted as a man who does get the job done. Knight goes on hyping himself up but Grimes warns him to not step in the ring because this is a conversation of millionaires, not the nickel & dime Knight. DiBiase tells Grimes to let Knight talk. Knight says Grimes is right, he’s not a millionaire yet but he lives comfortably, but with Ted helping him, they can reach new heights. Knight goes on and Ted says he’s well aware of who Knight is, and the success he’s had in his career already. Ted says Knight probably has a shot at becoming a mega star here in NXT, because he does have a million dollar body and a million dollar mindset. Grimes interrupts and says we’re not going to talk about Knight’s body, because he’s not Cameron Grimes. Grimes goes on and steps to Knight, telling him to get out of the ring or he will kick his ass straight to the moon.

Grimes turns back to Ted but Knight attacks him from behind and lays him out to boos. Fans chant “you suck!” at Knight now. Knight exits the ring as Ted stands over Grimes. Ted says Grimes is just never going to get it, is he? Ted does his signature laugh while standing over Grimes in the middle of the ring. Ted’s music starts back up and he makes his exit as Grimes recovers in the ring, seething. Ted joins Knight at the bottom of the ramp and they head to the back together.

— Franky Monet is in the back getting ready for her debut match… Next!  We go to commercial.

— We are back and Indi Hartwell is looking for Dexter Lumis while McKenzie is trying to interview her.  Indi interrupts Ever Rise Live while Indi looks for Dexter.  Matt asks Indi if she wants to take a swing at her.  Drake Maverick shows up and says that he saw Dexter a few hours ago and she goes into a room and when the light comes on, there are images of broken hearts and then a drawing of a knife in his heart while Indi calls him a loser.

Franky Monet vs. Cora Jade

They lock up and Monet backs Jade into the corner and pats her down in the corner.  They lock up and Monet sends Jade to the mat.  Jade with a boot and Monet with a forearm.  Monet with chops in the corner.  Monet sends Jade into the turnbuckles and follows with a running double knee strike to the back and a running hip in the corner.  Monet with a running double knee strike to the head.  Monet with a chop.  Monet with a back heel kick and a knee followed by a clothesline.

Jade with a forearm and more forearms.  Jade with a side Russian leg sweep for a near fall.  Monet with a spear.  Monet with a sit out power bomb.  Monet with an Implant Buster for the three count.

Winner:  Franky Monet

— Zack Gibson says last week was nothing personal for Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.  It was a receipt to put you in your place.  Drake says they didn’t travel around the world to feud with chair throwing hooligans.  We came to challenge for the titles.  Gibson says we are going to watch MSK next week in their tag title match.  They are who the division needs and they will be the next NXT Tag Team Champions.

— We have a video package for Bronson Reed after his victory last week. We see Bronson Reed and KUSHIDA at a photo shoot and then Bronson walks away as we go to commercial.

— We are back with a video package for Imperium and their removal of Alexander Wolfe from the group.  WALTER says they need to continue to set things straight.  They need to right the first wrong, losing the tag titles.  WALTER wants to know if they are serious.  They are showmen while you are professional wrestlers.  You will be restoring the honor of our sport because to us, the mat is sacred.

— New NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed makes his way to the ring.

Bronson says fourteen years to get here.  It wasn’t an easy road to become the North American champion.  It wasn’t fourteen years of climbing the mountain.  It was fourteen years of falling and getting back up and falling and getting back up.  He says he had a lot of doubters.  There were a lot of people who told him no.  This title is proof that you don’t have to take no for an answer.  If you grind it out, you will become a champion.  Now that I have it, good luck trying to take it from me.  If you think you have a shot, I had a big mountain to climb, but you have a colossal mountain to climb.

Legado del Fantasma makes their way to the ring and they applaud Reed.  Escobar says that Bronson has a tele novella story coming.  He brought tears to their eyes.  Escobar says he can’t relate to anything you just said.  I was born a champion.  I wasn’t even born to belong in this business.  This business belongs to me.  After your victory, something caught my eye.  It wasn’t your colossal mass, it was the North American title.  I am the Emperor of Lucha Libre.  I run the bingo.  That is why I took the Cruiserweight TItle.  I see the North American title and I see USA and Mexico.  Wilde asks about Canada.  Escobar tells Wilde that Canada doesn’t count.

The North American title represents Mexico so it belongs to me.  Your celebration is over… mate.  I will do what I do best and that is take what is mine.

MSK makes their way to the ring and they join Reed in the ring to take care of Wilde and Mendoza.  Reed with a body block to Escobar.

— We see Finn Balor in the back as we go to commercial.

— We are back and William Regal mentions tonight’s main event for the World Title.  He says we will need a new Number One Contender.  Kyle O’Reilly will face Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano in a Triple Threat match with the winner facing the NXT Champion at In Your House. We will also see MSK versus Legado del Fantasma for the Men’s Tag Titles.

Karrion Kross vs. Finn Balor for the NXT Men’s Championship

We go back to the ring for tonight’s main event as Finn Balor comes out to a pop. Barrett calls this the biggest rematch NXT has ever seen. Out next comes NXT Champion Karrion Kross with Scarlett. Balor stares from the top turnbuckle as Kross and Scarlett do their entrance. Kross and Balor meet in the middle of the ring for formal ring introductions from Taylor.

The bell hits and they size each other up. Balor with kick attempts. Balor with a headlock to start. Kross levels Balor with a shoulder block. Balor with a strike but Kross drives a big knee to the gut. Balor comes right back at it after Kross tries to toss him trough the ropes. Balor dropkicks the leg and looks to keep control, frustrating Kross. Kross regroups with Scarlett at ringside as we go to a picture-in-picture commercial.

Back from the break and Balor has Kross down, working on his arm. Kross fight up and slams Balor in the middle of the ring. Kross send Balor into the corner head-first to the turnbuckle. Kross keeps control and nails a running clothesline in the corner, a back elbow, then a short clothesline in the corner to drop Balor as Scarlett cheers him on. Kross launches Balor over his head. Kross smiles as he stalks Balor, keeping him down and stomping again. Kross grounds Balor with another hold. Balor breaks free but Kross decks him and clubs him to the mat. Balor ducks a clothesline and applies the abdominal stretch, forcing Kross to scream out.

Balor unloads and focuses on the lower back for a quick pin attempt. Balor attacks in the corner and works Kross over with more forearms. Kross turns it right around and delivers shoulder thrusts in the corner as the referee warns him. Kross turns Balor around and delivers shoulder thrusts to the lower back. Kross levels Balor, sending him face-first into the turnbuckles and Balor goes down now. Kross launches Balor across the ring with ease, from one corner to the other. Kross with a big German suplex to launch Balor across the ring. Balor counters a slam attempt and takes Kross down to the mat into a Crossface submission. Kross resists and Balor delivers kicks.

Balor rolls through with a double stomp to the chest. Balor keeps control from corner to corner now. Balor chops away and delivers thrusts in the corner as the referee warns him, allowing Kross to deck him and turn it right back around. Kross tosses Balor to the floor. Balor turns it around on the outside, trapping Kross in the ring apron cover and unloading on him. Kross gets free but Balor nails a running punt kick from the apron. Balor is down on the apron looking up while Kross is down on the outside. We go to commercial.

Kross continues to dominate throughout the break after some offense by Balor. Kross with a suplex in the middle of the ring. Balor fights back in the middle of the ring and nails a suplex but Kross comes back with a bridge of his own for 2. They trade counters and Balor nails the basement dropkick. Back from the break and Balor is getting up first as fans rally. They trade rights and lefts now. Kross scoops Balor and rams him into the turnbuckles, then across the ring into the other turnbuckles, then a running powerslam in the middle of the ring. Balor kicks out at 2.

Balor rocks Kross as he tries to recover. Balor keeps fighting. More back and forth. Balor with a Slingblade but Kross kicks out at 1. Balor drops Kross and nails another double stomp but Kross pulls him into a Straitjacket submission in the middle of the ring. The referee checks on Balor but he finally gets to the bottom rope to break the hold. Balor is down and out as Kross sits up.

Kross tosses Balor out of the ring. Kross follows and slams the back of Balor’s head into the Plexiglas barrier several times. Kross lifts Balor into the powerbomb position, then drives him into the Plexiglas with another power move. Kross brings Balor back in before the 10 count. Balor turns a powerbomb attempt into a big DDT in the middle of the ring. Balor with a Slingblade. Balor clotheslines Kross over the top rope to the floor. Balor runs and leaps out, taking Kross down at ringside for a big pop. Kross gets right up and the crowd is shocked. Kross grabs Balor from behind and drives him down on top of the announce table.

Fans chant “this is awesome!” now as the referee keeps counting. Kross rolls Balor back in at the 8 count. Kross enters but Balor meets him with offense. Balor drops Kross and delivers another double stomp as fans try to rally for him. Kross gets up but Balor nails the running dropkick into the corner. Balor goes to the top for Coup de Grace but Kross rolls out of the way. Balor lands hard on his feet. Kross rams Balor into the turnbuckles, then nails another German suplex. Kross yells out as some fans boo.

Kross picks Balor up and delivers a stiff Doomsday Saito suplex. Kross gets back up and stands tall for a few more boos. Kross waits for Balor to get up. Kross charges with the forearm strike but Balor takes him down for a quick pin attempt. Balor with the abdominal stretch to bring Kross to the mat. Kross powers out on the mat, mounting Balor’s back and beating on the back of his head with strikes. Balor turns it over and delivers forearms to the back of Kross’ head now. They break and the referee checks on them. Fans rally for Balor. Kross sits up and Scarlett talks to him. Balor grabs Kross from behind and drops back with a Sleeper hold applied. Balor drives heel kicks into Kross while keeping the Sleeper locked in on the mat.

Balor turns it into a Triangle in the middle of the ring now. Kross starts fading out but now he’s powering up to his feet. Kross powers up and drops Balor with a big powerbomb in the middle of the ring. Balor and Kross get up at the same time but Kross nails a clothesline. Kross with a big strike in the corner, then a forearm to the back of the head. Kross drops Balor and stomps away as the referee warns him now. Kross applies the choke from behind and Balor starts to fade. The referee calls the match.

Winner: Karrion Kross

After the match, Kross stands tall and Scarlett joins him in the ring as the music hits. We go to replays. Kross and Scarlett pose with the title in the middle of ring, hovering over Balor. Balor finally wakes up and starts to recover as Kross and Scarlett look on. NXT goes off the air.
