BREAKING: WWE Releases Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Billie Kay And Peyton Royce

WWE Releases Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Billie Kay And Peyton Royce

Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, and Chelsea Green are among the names of those who have been released from WWE today.

WWE has officially announced these releases in a tweet and a future endeavored mention on their website. In addition to these women – Samoa Joe, Bo Dallas, Tucker, Kalisto and Wesley Blake were also released.

Billie Kay which may come as the most shocking to many fans was released just days after she was in the ring alongside Carmella at WrestleMania. They participated in the Tag Team Turmoil match on Night One and eliminated the first team of Naomi and Lana prior to being eliminated by The Riott Squad. She is a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Peyton Royce as one-half of The IIconics which they won at WrestleMania 35. They were split in without any clear direction in 2020.

Peyton Royce was also released. She most recently was seen facing then-RAW Women’s Champion Asuka after a heated promo on RAW Talk about not getting the right opportunities or be giving the chance. After her split with Kay, she was put into a tag team with Lacey Evans until Evans announced her real life pregnancy.

Mickie James is a WWE Legend and a six-time Women’s Champion for the company. She hasn’t been in the ring since the Royal Rumble in January and was never part of the WWE Draft in October and was left without a brand to partake on. She was part of the broadcast team for the most recent TakeOver: Stand & Deliver event. James returned to WWE in late 2016.

Chelsea Green was signed in 2018 and since her debut she has had multiple injuries which has prevented her from getting the exposure she needed. She was the first member of The Robert Stone Brand in NXT. Following her break from Stone, she was moved to SmackDown. She suffered an injury in her debut on SmackDown at the end of 2020 and although cleared hasn’t been seen on television since. A few weeks ago she posted a photo of herself backstage at SmackDown but wasn’t used on the show.

Much like every year after WrestleMania, WWE is releasing Superstars. Last year it was partly regarded as cutbacks due to the start of the pandemic.
