The women of the AEW division can’t be left out of the tournament fun!!
IMPACT has wrapped up their tag team tournament crowning the new Knockout Tag Team Champions – Fire N Flava. NXT just kicked off the first-ever Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic on tonight’s show. Now, AEW is bringing a Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament to decide the number one contender.
During tonight’s AEW Dynamite episode, the company revealed that they will start a new eliminator tournament, but this time the women will get a turn. They did not reveal the starting date as of this writing.
The winner will go on to face the current AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida who has held the title since May. Shida last defended her title on Jan. 6 against Abadon. By the looks of the bracket, there will be 16 women included in this tournament.
In August, the last women’s tournament that AEW put on had some controversy in the way they booked it by some fans. It was firmly placed on YouTube instead of given a rightful place on Dynamite. The winners of that Deadly Draw tag team tournament were Ivelisse and Diamante.
