Impact Wrestling Results – December 22, 2020 – This week’s Impact on AXS is a Best of 2020 edition!

Josh Mathews and Scott D’Amore are the hosts this week, sitting on front of a festive holiday set, welcome everyone to the show and talk about the Hard to Kill PPV six man tag team main event.

They aired Ace Austin vs. Trey Miguel from Hard to Kill 2020.

Backstage, Chris Bey was coming out of Impact management’s office.  Rohit Raju came across him and Bey told him that thanks to his win last week, which was brought about by Raju, Bey has been added to the Hard to Kill X-Division match and it’s now a three-way with Manik at the PPV.

Ace Austin was named 2020 X-Division Star of the year.  Ace Austin said he’s surprised, not by winning an award, but that it was for the X-Division as he was in the division for four months and then moved on to the Tag Team and Heavyweight division.  He said that maybe he shouldn’t be shocked, because who else was going to get voted?  He said perhaps he’ll revisit the X-Division.

Brian Myers said his favorite part of 2020 was making Impact relevant by coming to the company.

They moved on to a look at Slammiversary 2020.

They moved on to talk about the Impact Wrestling Tag Team scene, which Scott D’Amore said historically Impact does better than anyone else.

They aired the Turning Point 2020 bout featuring then-Impact Tag Team Champions The North vs. The Good Brothers.

Scott D’Amore raved about how deep the Impact tag team division is.  He said the division are on fire and the Good Brothers are on top.

The Impact Wrestling Tag Team of 2020.  Ethan Page was on the phone telling Josh Alexander that they won the award for the second year in a row.  Alexander wondered if this was enough to get Ethan Page and the North back on track.  He said they were the best team in company history.

Alexander made a phone call and The Karate Man picked up.  Alexander was flabbergasted.

Rich Swann said in his household, people like to hang out and drink a lot of eggnog for the holidays.

They did a hard push for the Hard to Kill PPV main event.

They discussed the Knockouts Tag Team title tournament.

They went back to the Jordynnne Grave vs. Deonna Purrazzo Iron Man match.

Backstage, Taya issued a challenge for Jordynne Grace to face her at the Hard to Kill PPV.

The 2020 Knockout of the Year was Deonna Purrazzo.  She has set out to become the greatest technical in the world and is on her way to being the best Knockouts Champion in history. 2020 should be known as the age of the Virtuosa.

Match of the Year will be announced next week.

D’Amore and Mathews discussed Sami Callihan.  They aired a video feature on the Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards feud.  They pushed their battle on the 1/5/21 episode of Impact.

They aired the Moose vs. EC3 cinematic match from Bound for Glory.

They then aired a video feature on Moose vs. Willie Mack.

They announced the brackets for the 2021 Super X Cup at Genesis on 1/9/21 on Impact+ 

*Suicide vs. Ace Austin.

*Daivari vs. Cousin Jake.

*Crazzy Steve vs. Tre Lamar.

*Black Christian vs. KC Navarro.

In a jail somewhere, Larry D is asking Acey Romero to help get him out.  He said it’s three days until Christmas and he has to help him get out.  Romero said that if he has evidence, he needs to tell Romero.  Larry D said that the lights were out, but someone sprayed “Ring Rust” and someone had to know it.  Romero said that the person with the best hearing is a blind man.  So, he’s obviously going to Crazzy Steve.

They aired a video feature on the John E. Bravo shooting.

They went to a “paid commercial” from AEW with Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone.  Khan was introduced as the only owner in pro wrestling who isn’t a carny.  Khan put over his holdings in  Nashville.  He said he heard TNA is Hard to Kill and is looking to showcase AEW Champion Kenny Omega on their PPV.  He has the power to stop that but he won’t.  He said Impact had an open invite to send their talents to Dynamite.

Eddie Edwards was asked the holiday traditions in the Edwards household.  They put up their first Christmas tree in November, a fake one and then after Thanksgiving, they move onto a real tree.

They talked about the return of Eric Young and then aired a video feature on Young.

Willie Mack was asked if there were any holiday traditions in his household.  He has a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree and likes to set it up every year and put trinkets for himself, his girlfriend and his pets around it.

Josh and Scott talked about Moose vs. Willie Mack at Genesis.

They aired a video feature on Kenny Omega’s incursion into Impact Wrestling.

Don Callis and AEW Champion Kenny Omega were at a photo shoot.  Omega said there is a higher power involved and he’s now the AEW Champion, the only Christmas gift worth anything.  Callis said Omega gave Impact a Christmas present just by appearing in the Impact Zone.  He said a lot of people try to imitate him but he can’t be duplicated.

Josh and Don discussed the Hard to Kill PPV main event.

The 2020 Impact Wrestler of the Year is Deonna Purrazzo.  She said when she arrived in Impact, she had a lot to say and prove.  Seven months later, she stands here the 2020 Wrestler of the Year.  There is no more fit accolade for the Virtuosa.  She conquered and adapted 2020 and it’s now the age of the Virtuosa.
