Last Friday night on WWE SmackDown, there was a confrontation between Drew McIntyre and Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
The way things played out, fans were left with the impression that McIntyre would defeat WWE Champion Randy Orton on Raw to set up McIntyre vs. Reigns this Sunday night at the Survivor Series pay-per-view.
According to WrestlingNews, the plan was for Orton to retain his title tonight and the plan was still for Orton to face Reigns this Sunday night. WWE is hoping for a boost in the ratings now that the election news coverage has cooled off and we were told that the segment on Friday was just meant to generate some extra buzz for Raw.
Tonight’s show will also feature The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) defending their Raw Tag Team Titles against The Hurt Business (Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin).
