Io Shirai Wins The NXT Women’s Title at NXT “Takeover: In Your House”

Io Shirai wins The NXT Women’s Title at NXT “Takeover: In Your House” defeating the now former champion Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley.

Flair rolled out of the ring to let Shirai and Ripley fight each other, but she quickly returned to gain the upper hand. The Queen tossed Shirai across the ring and chopped both of her opponents. Shirai took Flair down with a hurricanrana on the floor, but The Queen quickly regained the upper hand. Ripley rocked Flair with some knees and a big boot. Shirai hit a 619 and a double stomp on Flair.

Shirai and Ripley took each other down with punches. Flair Speared both of her opponents. Ripley countered a Moonsault from Flair, but Shirai reversed a Riptide. Flair dropped Ripley with a big boot. Shirai nearly rolled Flair up for the win. Ripley dragged Flair out of the ring and brawled with her at ringside. Shirai dove onto Ripley outside the ring. Ripley hit Flair with a fake plant prop from the set. Flair slapped Ripley, but Shirai jumped off the set onto both of her opponents.

Flair went crashing head-first into the turnbuckle when Ripley dodged a Spear. Flair rolled to the outside, but she rocked Shirai with a big boot a few minutes later. Ripley hit a Riptide off the top rope, but Shirai broke up the pin. Flair got a Kendo Stick and hit both of her opponents with it. The Queen Speared Ripley and locked in the Figure Eight. With Ripley trapped in the hold, Shirai hit a moonsault on her and pinned her to win the title.

This is Shirai’s first title reign in NXT. Charlotte Flair won the title back during Night Two of WrestleMania 36 on April 5, by defeating Ripley in singles action.
