Edge to Work Limited Dates, Details on His Lucrative WWE Contract

Edge to Work Limited Dates, Details on His WWE Contract

Edge’s return to WWE at the Royal Rumble may go down as the biggest story of 2020 since it seemed improbable just a few months ago that he would ever wrestle again.

He came back from spinal stenosis and it is clear now that he is back in the mix on the active roster and he will be feuding with Randy Orton for an eventual match at WrestleMania 36.

As previously noted, Edge was in talks with All Elite Wrestling and there was a lot of talk in WWE that he was going to show up at the All Out pay-per-view last August. However, WWE offered a better deal and the contract was signed.

Alex McCarthy from talkSPORT was backstage in Houston, Texas during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view and he provided some details on Edge’s contract with WWE.

McCarthy reports that Edge’s deal is believed to be for three years at $3 million-a-year and his deal requires him to wrestle three times per year but he is committed to five matches. The first match was his return at the Royal Rumble on Sunday. McCarthy is also reporting that he will make 25 appearances per year. Basically, he has a deal similar to Brock Lesnar.

The limited dates are a necessity for Edge at this stage of his life due to his history with neck issues. He has been training hard to get back into shape and has said that he feels better but he admitted on his podcast that his neck is not 100 percent but his doctor believes his neck can be healthy in 5 years. Edge has also talked about wanting to get stem cell therapy that has helped others like Kevin Nash and Rey Mysterio.

Hopefully, his neck holds up during this run. It seems like he is in good hands since he will be in the ring with his good friend Randy Orton, who will figure out how to work around any limitations that may exist.
