Brock Lesnar Announced For SmackDown, Atlas Air Apologizes For WWE Flight Debacle

As noted, WWE talent and crew have been stuck in Saudi Arabia and won’t be able to make it to tonight’s WWE SmackDown in Buffalo due to what WWE called mechanical issues with the original flight.

Atlas Air, the charter company WWE used to fly from the Kingdom back to the United States, has issued an apology for the mechanical issue that caused the delays.

A representative for Atlas Air issued the following statement through WWE:

“A chartered WWE passenger flight operated by Atlas Air is currently delayed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia due to a mechanical issue. The flight was scheduled to depart at 0300 local time on November 1. Our top priority is always to ensure our passengers arrive safely and on time at their destination. The aircraft is being repaired and will be inspected and certified before returning to service to transport our passengers to their final destination. We regret that operational disruptions delayed the flight and apologize to our passengers who were inconvenienced.”

Speaking of tonight’s episode of Smackdown, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar is now official for the show.

Lesnar will be appearing just one night after retaining his title over Cain Velasquez at WWE Crown Jewel, in a match that lasted right over 2 minutes.

Below is new video of Cathy Kelley announcing an update on tonight’s show from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. Cathy confirms Lesnar’s appearance and says we are in store for more surprises.

As we noted before, several NXT Superstars are reportedly being flown to Buffalo from Florida for tonight’s show, and Triple H will be running things.

Lesnar’s appearance and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley defending against Nikki Cross are the only confirmed happenings for tonight’s show as of this writing because the original line-up was nixed due to the travel debacle coming out of Saudi Arabia.
