SummerSlam Toronto Card Is Filling Up

SummerSlam Toronto Card Is Filling Up
SummerSlam is just around the bend!

Sportsbooks have had odds on a few matches for a while now, but as RAW and SmackDown reach their pre-Slam climaxes, new matches are getting added quickly.

The Old

Brock Lesner versus Seth Rollins is the first SummerSlam main that got announced. Then We saw both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s titles come into the fold. Then Kofi Kingston versus Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt versus Finn Balor, and Kevin Owens against Shane McMahon.

The Universal Champion will be decided and the Beast Incarnate is a -200 favorite to retain the title. That said, this seems like a great opportunity for a big upset at SummerSlam just because of how much time the Universal Champion Title has rested under Brock’s thumb over the last two years. Then again, some say it doesn’t make sense for him to lose right after getting the title back. We’ll have to wait and see.

Kofi Kingston is a slight favorite in the WWE Championship match against Randy Orton. This one would be quite surprising if we saw an upset. Why? Because Randy Orton has already had this belt way too many times.

As for the Ladies, both current champs are favorites and I don’t see either Ember Moon or Natalya with the star power to dethrone Bayley or Becky Lynch.

The New

Now we have new announcements, AJ Styles will take on Ricochet for the United States Championship … in Canada –not sure how that works. The Miz and Dolph Ziggler will finally go head to head in a singles match, and Charlotte Flair has found her ‘better-than-Ember’ opponent.

Rematch! AJ Styles has to defend against the man he took the United States Championship Belt from and he’s a -187 favorite to retain the belt. I find it comical that they are having the United States Championship bout in Toronto. If Styles loses, will this come into the storyline, the belt returned on a technicality?

The closest odds of the night are on The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. According to Sky Sports, Ziggler is -110 and The Miz is -125. So there is no real underdog in this match, just a tad more juice on The Miz to win.

I’ve got to say that it’s about time that these two officially went at it again. Remember back in SummerSlam 2014 for the Intercontinental Championship? Ziggler won the belt to become a two-time Intercontinental Champ. Will he beat The Miz at two SummerSlam events?

Well, in mid-July Diggler came on Miz TV and asked if the rumors were true, calling The Miz a company-yes-man and telling him that he’s become everything he hates, instigating Miz. Then Diggler went after Miz’s wife and was promptly pummeled. I would lean towards The Miz to get the SummerSlam victory this time around.

Charlotte Flair talked a lot of smack about getting a better opponent than Ember Moon … well, sorry Charlotte but we saw this one coming from way across the field. Trish Stratus comes on King’s Court for no apparent reason … then you start interrupting her and antagonizing. In a lot of ways, I wish that would have come to blows because the trash-talking stand-off that ensued was less than convincing. That said, Charlotte Flair is a hefty favorite (-300) over Trish Stratus in Toronto.

Who else will we see at SummerSlam? Will Roman Reigns and Buddy Murphy be the next announcement?
