WWE could make changes to upcoming Saudi Arabia events. The company returns to the country for its next event on November 1st.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is trying to figure out a scheduling issue with the show. The reason for that is due to WWE signing a big money deal with FOX to air SmackDown Live this fall that starts on Friday, October 4 at 8 pm eastern.
Meltzer wrote, “a note that hasn’t been brought up regarding Saudi Arabia shows going forward is that Saudi Arabia has asked for a date on Fridays.” This scheduling issue could affect all future shows in the country.
He brought up how WWE has a listing for a SmackDown Live TV event on November 1st in from Newark, NJ. Meltzer added, “So that would either mean split crews or they’d have to change the Saudi date.”
WWE started their deal with Saudi Arabia last year. The sports entertainment company signed a 10-year partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority to bring annual WWE events to Saudi Arabia in support of a new campaign, Saudi Vision 2030.
