WWE Smackdown Results - June 12, 2018

We are Live from the FedExForum in Memphis, TN. The women in the Money in the Bank Match from Smackdown are in the ring with Paige, who introduces Naomi, Lana, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair.

Paige says they have the opportunity to change your lives forever. She mentions that Raw is bringing their four finest women into the match. Paige says she needed the best that Smackdown had to offer. These ladies qualified and earned their chance to be in the match. Paige says she does not care who wins, as long as one of you brings the briefcase back to her house.

Lana tells Paige not to worry about Raw having the contract because she will bring it to Smackdown. Naomi interrupts her and the two argue. Naomi says they all need to remember that she won the first ever Wrestlemania women’s battle royal. Charlotte says that is true but the only reason she won was because she wasn’t in the match. Becky cuts in and says if anyone is bringing that contract to Smackdown Live, it’ll be her. She says she was the first women ever drafted to Smackdown Live and was also the first ever WWE Smackdown Live women’s champion.

The IIconics’ music hits and they make their way down the ramp. Peyton Royce mocks Becky Lynch and Billie Kay mocks Charlotte. Naomi interrupts them and they start mocking Naomi and Lana’s dancing from last week.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville come out. Mandy tells Paige that she’s going to be disappointed on Sunday because the challenge on the outside of the ring is far superior than the talent inside the ring. The four women inside the ring go to the outside and a brawl breaks out.

Daniel Bryan is shown backstage getting ready. We go to commercial.

– We are back and we will have an eight woman tag match later tonight.

– We take a look back at Daniel Bryan’s comments after last week’s Smackdown to respond to Big Cass’ comments.

Daniel Bryan vs. Shelton Benjamin

They lock up and Benjamin with a knee and forearm. Benjamin with an Irish whip and Bryan flips over Benjamin and hits a flying clothesline. Bryan goes for the Yes Lock but Benjamin counters and gets Bryan to the mat. Bryan with a hammer lock. Bryan gets a near fall. Bryan with European uppercuts. Bryan with a kick and Benjamin sends Bryan to the apron. Benjamin with a thrust kick to the knee and Bryan goes to the floor. Benjamin goes to the floor and he drops Bryan’s knee on the announce table.

Benjamin slams Bryan’s leg into the ringside barrier and then he returns to the ring to break the referee’s count. The referee checks on Bryan while Benjamin waits in the ring. Bryan gets to the apron and he side steps Benjamin who goes to the floor. Bryan with a running knee off the apron. Bryan sends Benjamin back into the ring and Bryan goes up top and misses a diving head butt when Benjamin moves. Benjamin with a single leg crab.

Benajmin with a KneeDT with Bryan’s leg in the ropes. Benjamin slaps Bryan in the head and then he punches Bryan. Bryan punches back but Benjamin with a drop toe hold and he returns to the leg. Bryan struggles to get to the ropes and he succeeds. Bryan lands on his feet on a German suplex attempt but Bryan’s knee buckles a bit. Bryan avoids the dragon whip and Bryan with a kick to the knee. Bryan with punches and kicks but Benjamin with a kick to the knee. Bryan with a dragon screw.

Bryan kicks Benjamin in the chest and then he puts Benjamin’s leg in the rope and applies pressure followed by a drop kick to the knee. Benjamin drops Bryan on the turnbuckles and he connects with a knee to the head. Benjamin with a superplex and he gets a near fall. Benjamin misses Paydirt and Bryan gets Benjamin down for the Yes Lock and Benjamin gets a near fall with a rollup. Benjamin with a single leg crab. Bryan counters into a heel hook and Benjamin taps out.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

– The announcers run through the card for Money in the Bank.

– We see AJ Styles take his title belt as he makes his way to the ring to talk to Jerry Lawler.

Backstage:

We are back and Paige walks in the back and she sees Asuka. Asuka says she wants Carmella tonight. Paige says she cannot do that, but she will make the women’s tag match a ten woman tag match. Asuka says that will be good for her but bad for Carmella.

We see Miz in his referee gear. Paige asks what is he doing and he says he is getting ready for a role. Paige asks what is the role and Miz says it is Ruff Ruff Ref. Miz asks to be made the guest referee for the Samoa Joe versus Rusev match. Paige says that Miz is not a good enough actor. Paige says she knows what Miz wants to do. Miz says that after teaching Paige everything about acting on Santa’s Little Helper. Paige says that she will let Miz be the referee in the Samoa Joe versus Rusev match. Miz says that is what he wanted.

In the Arena:

We go to the ring and out comes WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler to a big hometown pop. Lawler talks about the Last Man Standing match for the WWE Title at Money In the Bank on Sunday and introduces his guest, WWE Champion AJ Styles. Styles also comes out to a big pop.

Lawler asks what led to AJ slapping Shinsuke Nakamura during the MITB contract signing last week. AJ admits he lost his cool again as Nakamura got under his skin. AJ asks if he should apologize and he says he’s sorry… sorry he didn’t knock Nakamura’s head off. AJ says this is SmackDown, the house he built, and this is what men do. AJ says we have rules and Nakamura will be disciplined if he doesn’t want to follow them. AJ says Nakamura can continue acting like a kid but he will keep acting like a man… the last man standing. AJ goes on and says he will walk out of Money In the Bank with the title. AJ’s music hits and he stands tall.

– We see The Miz backstage getting tips from a referee. Still to come, Samoa Joe vs. Rusev with The Miz as special referee. Back to commercial.

Samoa Joe vs. Rusev

Back from the break and out first comes special referee The Miz. Aiden English is out next to sing & rap the introduction for Rusev. Samoa Joe is out next.

The bell rings and they lock it up as Joe takes Rusev to the corner and unloads. Joe has words with Miz, leading to Rusev turning it around on Joe in the corner and beating him up. Joe ends up going to the floor for a breather. Rusev brings it back in but Joe sends Rusev right back to the floor. Joe runs the ropes and nails a huge dive to Rusev on the floor. We go to commercial with both Superstars down on the outside.

We are back and Joe with a reverse chin lock. Rusev with a jaw breaker and Joe with a running back elbow. Joe gets a near fall. Joe with an arm bar and then he goes to a head lock. Rusev with punches and Joe is backed into the corner. Rusev with a kick and Irish whip followed by a splash. Rusev with a kick and punch but Joe with a clothesline. Joe sends Rusev into the turnbuckles but he runs into a boot. Rusev with punches. Joe misses a clothesline and Rusev with a kick to the chest. Rusev with a running shoulder into the corner followed by a jumping spin kick.

Joe avoids the Machka Kick and Joe with the Coquina Clutch. Rusev with a snap mare to escape. Joe charges into the corner but Rusev moves and Joe splashes Miz when English moves. Joe with an STJoe but Miz refuses to make the count. Joe grabs Miz’ hand and Rusev with a Machka Kick for the three count.

Winner: Rusev

After the match, Rusev stands tall as his music hits. English goes under the ring and pushes a ladder in. Joe stands up and Rusev runs over him with the ladder. Rusev positions the ladder and climbs up for the briefcases hanging above the ring. Miz pulls Rusev off the ladder and drops him with a Skull Crushing Finale. Miz looks up and climbs. He grabs a briefcase and holds it high, bringing it back to the mat to celebrate with as his music plays. Miz takes the briefcase to the announcers and continue to run his mouth. Saxton opens the case as instructed but it’s filled with The New Day’s pancakes. Miz throws a fit and yells about the contract not being in there. We see The New Day backstage laughing at Miz. Fans chant for The New Day in the arena.

– Still to come, a 10-woman tag team match. Also, Hardy vs. Nakamura for the first time. We see Nakamura backstage getting ready. Back to commercial.

Jeff Hardy vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Non Title Match

They lock up and Nakamura backs Hardy into the corner and Nakamura leans his head against Hardy’s chest on the break. Hardy with a kick and forearm to the back. Hardy sends Nakamura into the turnbuckles. Nakamura slides to the floor on an Irish whip and he gestures for Hardy to COME ON. Hardy sends Nakamura into the ringside barrier and then Hardy with a clothesline off the apron.

They return to the ring and Hardy punches Nakamura and sends him into the turnbuckles. Hardy’s back gives out when Nakamura Irish whips him. Nakamura kicks Hardy in the back. Nakamura with a snap mare and a knee drop for a near fall. Nakamura kicks Hardy in the corner and then Nakamura with a leg sweep and then he connects with kicks in the corner. Nakamura gets a near fall.

Nakamura with a chin lock using Hardy’s arm. Hardy with elbows and a jaw breaker. Hardy with punches and a running forearm. Hardy with a reverse atomic drop and leg drop. Hardy with a drop kick for a near fall. Hardy with a kick and he goes for the Twist of Fate but Nakamura escapes. Nakamura misses a splash into the corner. Hardy with a mule kick but Nakamura kicks Hardy out of the corner on a hesitation kick. Nakamura with a spin kick. Nakamura puts Hardy on the turnbuckles and Nakamura goes for the running knee but Hardy moves. Hardy with an elbow and Hardy with Whisper in the Wind for a near fall.

Hardy goes up top and Nakamura hits the ropes to knock Hardy onto the turnbuckles. Nakamura with a running knee to the back. Hardy with a kick to the knee followed by a Twist of Fate. Hardy goes up top for a Swanton and he hits it but he cannot take advantage and Nakamura gets his foot on the rope to stop the count. Nakamura goes to the floor and Hardy follows him. They return to the ring and Jeff signals for the Twist of Fate. Nakamura with a low blow and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Jeff Hardy (by disqualification)

After the match, Nakamura with Kinshasa and he makes the ten count.

Backstage:

Carmella is getting ready for her match in the make up area. Renee asks Carmella about possibly facing Asuka during tonight’s match and if she is concerned. Carmella says Renee does not remember seeing her leaving Asuka laying in the ring. She is not concerned about Asuka. Charlotte beat Asuka and she beat Charlotte twice. She is not concerned. She is not concerned about anyone. Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Naomi, Lana, and Asuka should be concerned. Asuka should be scared. We go to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Renee Young is in the back with Big Cass. Cass tells the WWE Universe about his day. He appeared at the Memphis County Fair for the opening of their new roller coaster. He pretended to smile and took some pictures. Then he took his money as well as a souvenir. It is a height chart for a roller coaster. Cass says one person does not meet the height requirement for the ride and that person is Daniel Bryan. Cass said a good big man will always beat a good little man. That is what will happen at Money in the Bank. It will not be a roller coaster or the bumper cars. It will be a freefall drop. If Daniel Bryan tries to come up to his level, he will come crashing right back down.

– The announcers go over the matches for Sunday’s Money In the Bank pay-per-view.

Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Lana and Noami vs. Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville and Carmella

We go to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes Naomi. Charlotte Flair is out next, followed by Asuka. Tom calls this the largest women’s tag team match in blue brand history. He sends us to a video on WWE and the 2018 Special Olympic Games, focusing on weightlifter CJ Piantieri. The video features Big Show interviewing CJ, his mother and others. We go to commercial.

Sonya and Naomi start things off and Sonya with a kick. Naomi with a head scissors and Lana tags in. Lana with a running elbow into the corner followed by a kick and neck breaker. Lana gets a near fall. Lana with a front face lock and Sonya runs her into the corner. Carmella tags in and kicks Lana. Carmella moonwalks and misses a bronco buster. Lana kicks Carmella away and Becky tags in and hits a clothesline followed by a drop kick. Becky with a back heel kick and uppercut followed by a clothesline. Becky with an exploder and she gets a near fall.

Becky kicks Sonya when she tries to interfere. Peyton tags in and she hits a spinning heel kick after Becky deals with Billie on the apron. Billie tags in and they hit a series of double kicks and Billie gets a near fall. Sonya tags in and he punches Becky. We go to commercial.

We are back and Billie kicks Becky. Peyton tags in and kicks Becky. Sonya tags in and Becky with an inside cradle for a near fall. Sonya with a spear for a near fall. Billie tags in and applies a cravate. Billie sends Becky to the mat and returns to the cravate. Becky gets to her feet and she punches Billie but Billie with a knee. Billie taunts Becky but Becky escapes a slam and hits an enzuigiri. Charlotte and Peyton tag in and Charlotte with a clothesline and she knocks everyone off the apron. Charlotte with chops and she struts. Charlotte kicks Billie and hits a fallaway slam.

Peyton with a kick to Charlotte but Charlotte with a spear. Charlotte goes up top and she kicks Carmella off the apron. That delay allows Peyton to get her knees up. Sonya tags in and then she tags in Mandy. Mandy with a kick and Sonya with a sliding kick. Charlotte avoids a double suplex and she tags in Asuka who hits a missile drop kick on Mandy. Mandy blocks a German suplex and Mandy with an elbow. Asuka applies the Asuka Lock and it is broken up. Everyone gets in the ring and Carmella tags in. Asuka with a hip attack and then she sends Mandy to the floor. Charlotte goes up top and hits a moonsault on Billie and Peyton. Sonya and Mandy send Becky into the ringside barrier. Naomi with a splash onto Sonya on the floor. Asuka with a round kick to Mandy but Carmella with a thrust kick to Asuka and Lana makes the save.

Carmella sends Lana out of the ring. Carmella superkicks Asuka but it’s blocked. Asuka and Carmella trade holds now until Asuka applies The Asuka Lock. Carmella taps for the finish.

Winners: Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Lana

After the match, the winners stand tall and celebrate as we go to replays. Carmella backs up the ramp with the title in her hand as the winners embrace in the ring. Asuka’s music stops as the winners look around at each other, then up at the MITB briefcases hanging above the ring. Asuka’s music starts back up as everyone continues looking around. SmackDown goes off the air.
