As noted, Goldberg will be appearing at this Monday’s RAW in Denver to respond to Paul Heyman’s challenge to a fight with Brock Lesnar. Goldberg will wrestle his first match in 12 years when he faces Lesnar at the Survivor Series next month.
TMZ first reported in late August that Goldberg was in talks for a WWE return. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Goldberg’s deal to return to WWE for a match with Brock Lesnar was put together in the last few weeks and it was not finalized until about a week ago.
The plan as of now is just for Goldberg to wrestle one match although that could change based on the crowd reaction. This year’s Survivor Series PPV will be held in Toronto where Goldberg has always faced a negative reaction.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since defeating Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in New York City. He has made a pair of appearances for Legends of Wrestling over the past year and a half, and speared Scott Steiner at both shows. You can check out Goldberg spearing Steiner at last year’s Legends of Wrestling event at Citi Field in New York in June of 2015 in the video below:
