Kevin Knight Recalls Staying Overnight At Hospital With Steven Borden Following All Out Injury

AEW star Kevin Knight has opened up about the frightening injury suffered by second-generation wrestler Steven Borden at AEW All Out 2026 on September 26, revealing that he stayed overnight at the hospital to ensure Borden was safe.

High-Risk Incident Leads To Stoppage

The scary moment unfolded during a high-stakes AEW World Tag Team Championship No. 1 contender’s match in Chicago. Borden, teaming alongside Darby Allin, went for a high-flying coast-to-coast maneuver, colliding in mid-air and striking his head hard against the canvas.

The referee immediately halted the contest via medical stoppage, awarding the victory and title opportunity to Knight and his tag partner Kyle Fletcher.

Knight Recalls Staying By Borden’s Side

Speaking in a recent interview with ClutchPoints, Knight detailed his immediate reaction to the scary situation, emphasizing that human concern trumped everything else:

  • Prioritizing Health: “As a human, it was just checking on him, making sure he’s okay. Obviously, you never want things like that to happen in your own match, especially when you’re involved with it.”
  • Hospital Overnight Stay: “So it was just making sure that he’s okay. You know, I spent the night at the hospital with him. He was perfectly fine. It was just a scary bump, a scary risk. But yeah, it was not an ideal situation.”
  • Rehearsed Sequence: “We talked about it and everything. We walked it through. But, just like I said, just with anything, stepping through the ropes, walking on the stairs, hitting the ropes, taking any kind of bump, you’re risking your life anytime you’re doing any of those things.”
  • Optimism For The Future: “So it was just a freak accident. And Steve is a trooper, so I’m sure he’ll come back better than ever.”

While AEW commentator Tony Schiavone and CEO Tony Khan provided reassuring medical updates after the pay-per-view—confirming Borden’s CT scans came back clear—the incident sparked widespread debate among fans and analysts regarding the safety of pushing inexperienced talents into high-profile live television spots.
