WWE Weighs Running John Cena Classic Head-To-Head With AEW Worlds End

John Cena has confirmed that the inaugural John Cena Classic is set for this December, but WWE officials are still finalizing the exact timing and execution for the high-profile event.

According to a backstage report from WrestleVotes, WWE internal discussion has dispelled rumors that the tournament would be integrated directly into the upcoming WrestlePalooza broadcast. Instead, management is evaluating two distinct calendar strategies for the December showcase.

The first option under consideration is positioning the John Cena Classic on Saturday, December 19, which would place the event in direct head-to-head competition against AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view.

The alternative proposal centers on Saturday, December 12. Under that framework, WWE would stage WrestlePalooza internationally in the morning before hosting the John Cena Classic live in the United States later that evening, creating a massive double-header for fans across multiple time zones.

“We’ve been hearing some speculation that they would potentially run against Worlds End on December 19th. Also, potentially make December 12th a giant day where, in the morning, you can have WrestlePalooza, and once you get to 12 hours here in the US, have the John Cena Classic. A bit of double-dipping,” WrestleVotes reported. “Don’t know which one of those will prevail, but the Cena Classic won’t happen at WrestlePalooza.”

Regardless of which date prevails, WWE is positioning the John Cena Classic as a standalone blockbuster attraction rather than an auxiliary piece of an existing premium live event.
