Even though John Cena officially wrapped up his historic in-ring career at the end of last year, the multi-time World Champion continues reminding fans why his signature entrance theme remains an all-time pop culture staple.
While making a promotional press stop for his upcoming film Matchbox: The Movie, Cena stopped by Capital for an interview and treated hosts to an impromptu, live rendition of his iconic WWE entrance theme, “The Time Is Now.”
Reliving the 2005 Anthem
Originally released as part of Cena’s debut rap album, You Can’t See Me, back in 2005—which moved a massive 140,000 copies in its first week—the track became the definitive soundtrack to his rise as the face of WWE. Hearing the 17-time world champion seamlessly spit the lyrics two decades later quickly sent clips circulating across social media.
Though Cena stepped away from active competition following his grueling year-long retirement run, “The Last Time Is Now,” he has stayed deeply connected to the industry. Aside from his ongoing global ambassador duties with WWE, Cena is also gearing up to helm the upcoming John Cena Classic tournament scheduled for December 2026.
