Bruce Prichard Preparing For Neck Surgery Stemming From 30-Year-Old Ultimate Warrior Angle

WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard is set to undergo neck surgery to address a severe injury that reportedly dates back more than three decades.

Conrad Thompson Reveals Prichard’s Health Update

The news was revealed by Conrad Thompson during the latest episode of the 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff podcast. When asked about Prichard’s current status with WWE, Thompson shared that the longtime executive has been experiencing debilitating neck issues that have severely impacted his daily life.

  • On Prichard’s condition: “I don’t know that Bruce has revealed it, but Bruce has been dealing with a neck injury. It turns out that Bruce is going to have to have some surgery on that rascal, and he hadn’t been having the best quality of life recently.”
  • On his ongoing rehabilitation: “He’s on the mend, he’s doing rehab and all that jazz, but he’s hurting for certain.”

Injury Stemmed From Brother Love Era Incident

Remarkably, Thompson claimed the underlying damage originates from a segment involving The Ultimate Warrior during Prichard’s portrayal of the iconic “Brother Love” character in the early 1990s.

According to Thompson, Prichard actually suffered a broken neck during the physical angle with the former WWE Champion, though the true extent of the structural damage went undetected for decades until recent medical evaluations.

“He broke his neck, and he just found out just recently,” Thompson stated. “All these years later.”

Prichard’s Executive Role and History of Leave

Prichard currently serves as WWE’s Executive Director, standing as one of the company’s highest-ranking creative administrators working directly under Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

  • 2019 Return: Rejoined WWE’s core creative structure full-time.
  • Recent Medical Leave: Took a two-month leave of absence earlier this year due to severe back issues before returning to his duties over the summer.

There is currently no official timeline for when Prichard will undergo the neck surgery, nor has WWE confirmed whether the procedure will necessitate another extended absence from television production.
