Backstage details have emerged following Carmelo Hayes’ explosive return to television on the October 12 episode of WWE RAW, shedding light on how his surprise alignment with The 946 came together.
Hayes re-emerged during the chaotic six-man tag team main event pitting The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and Solo Sikoa against Royce Keys, Lucien Price, and Bronco Nima. Disguised under a mask, Hayes entered the ring and blasted Sikoa with a crowbar before unmasking, officially joining forces with Keys, Price, Nima, and Jaida Parker as the newest member of the faction. The violent brawl ended with Hayes and The 946 wiping out the Bloodline, causing the match to be ruled a no contest.
According to False Finish, Royce Keys was the primary creative advocate for the move, personally pushing internal management to integrate Hayes into the group during his prolonged television hiatus.
Prior to Monday night, Hayes had been absent from WWE programming for nearly two months, with his previous televised appearance dating back to the August 14 episode of SmackDown in a United States Championship match against Baron Corbin.
Speculation surrounding Hayes’ creative direction intensified in the days leading up to the red brand broadcast when he completely blacked out his profile picture on X (formerly Twitter). That social media teaser culminated in his main event attack, adding a high-profile singles star to The 946 as their feud with Sikoa and The Usos reaches a boiling point.
