Oba Femi added another milestone to his breakout SummerSlam 2026 performance by becoming the first-ever ESPN Moment of the Night winner.
Following WWE SummerSlam Saturday, ESPN awarded Femi the inaugural Moment of the Night Championship for his victory over Brock Lesnar in the main event.
Oba Femi Defeats Brock Lesnar, Makes History
Femi made history inside Hell in a Cell by becoming the first superstar to defeat Brock Lesnar in that stipulation. The match saw Femi endure one of the most punishing battles of his career, including surviving a tombstone piledriver onto exposed ring boards.
Despite the damage, Femi recovered and delivered his Fall from Grace finisher to secure the pinfall victory over Lesnar.
After the match, Brock Lesnar showed rare respect by embracing Femi and publicly declaring him the future of WWE. The moment immediately stood out as one of the most memorable scenes from the entire event.
ESPN Introduces New WWE Moment of the Night Championship
The Moment of the Night recognition is part of a new partnership between WWE and ESPN. On July 30, the two companies announced the creation of a custom WWE-style championship belt featuring ESPN branding.
The title is designed to reward standout performances across both nights of SummerSlam 2026. Each night will feature a winner selected for delivering the most impactful moment of the show.
The concept is similar to bonus-style awards used in other TKO Group Holdings properties, including UFC and Zuffa Boxing, where fighters receive additional recognition for exceptional performances.
By earning the first-ever award, Oba Femi further solidified his status as one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars. Between defeating Brock Lesnar and receiving this new honor, SummerSlam 2026 may be remembered as the moment Femi officially arrived at the top level.
