WWE has internally finalized its main event plans for Saturday night’s Money in the Bank premium live event at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
According to WrestlingAttitude.com, Roman Reigns defending his championship against LA Knight is officially locked in to close out the broadcast.
During the final creative production meetings, internal discussions took place regarding whether the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match should serve as the main event instead. However, WWE officials ultimately determined that the World Heavyweight Title bout between Reigns and Knight held the highest box-office appeal and narrative weight to send the New Orleans crowd home satisfied.
Closing the event with the singles title match rather than a chaotic briefcase scramble has also sparked intense backstage speculation. Key creative insiders suggest that positioning the championship bout in the main event spot could signal a massive, unexpected title change to end the show on a shocking note.
Alongside the main event placement, WrestlingAttitude.com has learned about the internal creative frontrunners for both the men’s and women’s ladder matches.
Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Penta and Bron Breakker are currently viewed as the two leading creative favorites to climb the ladder and retrieve the contract. While Trick Williams had his name floated during early creative pitches, neither CM Punk nor Kevin Owens are expected to walk away victorious. WWE writers reportedly prefer to keep the Money in the Bank briefcase away from SmackDown’s primary storyline, which currently centers around a crowded group of contenders pursuing champion Sami Zayn.
Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
On the women’s side, former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and Lash Legend are internally regarded as the top two frontrunners to secure the contract over fellow competitors Tiffany Stratton, Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, and Jacy Jayne.
As with all WWE creative discussions, final match outcomes remain subject to change right up until showtime in New Orleans.
