Following a direct and purposeful tease from reigning CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone, Britt Baker is heavily expected to make her official Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) debut at Arena México.
The speculation reached a fever pitch following Friday night’s Viernes Espectacular event. In a backstage promo addressing critics of her championship reigns, Persephone dropped unmistakable hints regarding a major special guest arriving for next week’s card as part of CMLL’s ongoing Mes de las Amazonas (Month of the Amazons) celebration.
“You’ve complained, you’ve cried, you’ve whined that you don’t like how I win my matches, how I defend my championships. But I’m still champion,” Persephone stated before delivering the definitive punchline. “Next Friday, since it’s the Month of the Amazonas, I’m bringing you a brave, intelligent woman… D.M.D.”
The tease points directly to an extension of the on-screen alliance forged between Persephone and Baker on AEW programming. Baker notably returned to action to assist Persephone, and the two have since shared the ring on multiple occasions, including a recent six-woman tag team match alongside Mercedes Moné.
If Baker walks through the curtain at Arena México on October 16, it will mark her first-ever appearance for the historic Mexican promotion, further expanding the cross-promotional pipeline between AEW and CMLL.
